I hate, hate, hate when one movie wins all the awards. Most of these "award" shows are bogus, anyway, since actual, living, breathing people who actually watch movies to enjoy them don't vote on them at all.

Milk should have got best film editing and In Bruges should have got best screenplay. Other than that I pretty much agree with most of them. The Dark Knight definitely deserved best sound editing, if only for the seamless dubbing of a cement mixer over Christian Bale's real voice while he donned the Batman costume.

Congrats to Kate Winslet, Slumdog, and Heath :)
In regards to Dark Knight, it wasn't ODing that killed Heath Ledger, it was Bale's acting

    =/ Not really called for.

And I honestly thought that Slum Dog Millionaire was a bit too overrated.

I really think that movies should only be nominated for one category max. I think the problem is that they choose the nominations for best movie, then say, well the best movies also had all the best actors, the best actresses, the best sound, the best script, the best etc etc etc.

I mean if you are nominated for best movie you have clearly put together the elements of movies quite well and probably also fit into several of the other awards too, but to me, maybe other then individual actors and actresses in already nominated movies, movies should get one nomination max.

I'm happy that Ledger got the nod, but on the flip side of the coin, it's kind of bullshit that he probably only got it because he passed on. There's no way in hell he would have been nominated if he hadn't of died before the film was released. People can debate that all they want, but "The Dark Knight" is one of the most vastly overrated films in recent memory.

Oh, and fuck Sean Penn. Again, the Academy is playing politics, trying to right the wrongs they made when they gave the nod to Crash over Brokeback Mountain. Mickey Rourke should have had that shit on lockdown, but the board is filled to the brim with over the hill fucks. That's the ONLY reason Milk was nominated for anything, let alone Penn winning Actor in a Leading Role. Bullshit.

Slumdog Millionaire better be the best piece of film since Citizen Kane, or I'm right about the Academy and they don't know down from up, or quality from their assholes. It's absurd that 2 out of the 3 options for Best Original Song, or whatever, came from the same movie. Ridiculous.

Award shows are just masturbation for egos, it doesn't reflect quality in music or film anymore.

Not going to say about TDK being vastly overrated, because I like the movie. Do I agree that he should've been nominated? Yes. It was an awesome role. I just didn't want him to win, that's all because of all of this stuff. Doesn't mean i'm saying anything wrong. Sure, it sucks that he died but it's not that we should give an award to him for it. Trying not to sound like i'm going to hell for my comments, like somebody before me.

And agree on you about not only Mickey Rourke, but Bruce Springsteen as well. Oops, just because Springsteen put "The Wrestler" onto his album, it's null and void...yet, two songs from the same movie can be nominated. Then again, we have Eminem and Three Six Mafia as Oscar winners for the same category.

And it is the politics. It's the left wing, bullshitting apologists that Hollywood is. The Academy people were afraid that Rourke was going to win, make a profane speech and then end up on RAW the next night with the statue in hand. Speaking of that, I expect him to show up tonight to RAW now this is all said and done.

So yeah, I could care less...until the post I made eariler in here comes true.

How the HECK did Wall-E not win a sound award? The movies two main characters spoke entirely in random pieced together sounds, and it worked perfectly. The fact that Slumdog won over that sucks. I haven't seen the film, but I don't imagine that there would be a lot of sound to mix in a low budget drama. Yet it won an oscar, for some reason.

Slumdog was a good movie all around. It might have picked up a few too many awards, but it certainly is a deserving film. This year, we were blessed with many good films. Unfortunately there are some years where there is nothing good. This year was not one of them.

Even though I say Slum Dog Millionaire was a bit overrated (Since I prefer it's predecessors such as The Last King Of Scotland) it was a good movie, and the ensemble was excellent.

You should watch it :) before you criticize it.
