Q-Tip confirmed in a tweet that the hip hop quartet will be disbanding after their final performances as supporting acts in Kanye West's Yeezus Tour. Those shows will take place on November 20th at the Barclays Center and November 24th at Madison Square Garden, substituting for Kendrick Lamar. The group, consisting of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Jarobi White and Ali Muhammad, started in 1985 and temporarily split up in 1998 before reuniting in 2006. Their final album, The Love Movement came out back in 1998. Many of their songs are known to be hip hop classics. https://twitter.com/QtipTheAbstract/status/390264050971447296 http://www.complex.com/music/2013/10/a-tribe-called-quest-last-show-nyc-yeezus http://www.rollingstone.com/music/n...t-to-disband-after-two-more-concerts-20131016
Relationship between Q-Tip and Phife Dawg has been sour for a while now. Guess it was only a matter of time. At least they are going out on a good note with this tour.
Wish they could have ended it with their own headlining shows, but oh well. I'm sad that I never got to see them during the reunion.
