Maybe this is totally the wrong section for this topic but this is serious to me! haha. Does anyone know or like to guess whether a local floral shop / grocery store would have basic flowers to buy on valentines day? I usually just run into my local Farm Fresh and pick up flowers on random nights to suprise my gf with but I'm worried this tactic may not work being that it's valentines day.... I considered using one of the online flower shops that deliver to the home, but I am only in Highschool and I'm already taking her out to a nice dinner and a chocolate shop and really can't afford most of the $50 and up things im finding online... Do you think I will be safe finding something decent at a local shop the day of or should I try something else? (Again sorry if this is the wrong forum, feel free to move it)
well i mean, i know it has a floral department, I use it here and there. I'm just worried that they will be overwhelmed with people buying flowers on the day that they will sell out fast. I live in virginia.
You can pay for it early, and have them hold it for you, or something like that? Trust me, they will be overly stocked for Valentines day, if they have any brains at all
I think that, you should take her to dinner and the chocolate shop like you're planning, which if I were her, is plenty. I wouldn't feel the want for flowers. And then if you go in to the store that day and look around for flowers, and don't find anything, I don't think it would be a big deal. I mean, maybe she WANTS flowers, but if it was just your idea for a sweet thing...if I were her, I don't think it's necessary along with everything else. But it's up to you! And going on Friday would be another good option and make sure that you take care of them.
Steal them from someone's garden is what I'd probably do. Seriously though, if you buy them tomorrow or possibly even late today, there shouldn't be too long left to keep them in a vase or something until Saturday.
Instead of flowers why don't you make something for her? [e.g. my bf once made me a necklace and it was awesome!] +the flowers won't last for long..
Haha your view kind of resembles my gf... she is not superficial at all and really would be content with just hanging out somewhere and not spending any money. I would never in my life date someone who was angered at a bf for not giving enough material things or something. Everyone's answers were great though, thanks a lot!!
Ha. considering it's only been 2months, I don't think I would have enough time. But maybe next time... except, buying em is so much easier and they die anyways lol.
Yeah, you can tell the difference in the fragrance; based on how the flower smells. Overly smelly good flowers you can tell are from the market, and have few thorns. Subtle yet strong smells usually indicate a healthy, well taken care of flower, and you can see the where the thorns were cut off. at least, in comparison with my rose with my friends bundle.
