QUALIFICATIONS: MUST BE AN ACTIVE FORUM MEMBER WITH AT LEAST 500 POSTS. It's been a loooong time since we've had a forum-based contest here on the LPA, so I figured we'd revisit one that was pretty fun a couple of years ago. The contest is going to require a good memory, creativity, and mental awareness at all times. There is no end date; it is a fight to the death, with only one contest participant left standing to claim the big mystery prize. So, the premise? I challenge you not to use the words "the" or "and" in any of your posts until the end of the contest. While you may say that's an easy challenge, it isn't. So far, in this post alone, I've used the word "the" 9 times and "and" 3 times. It is not easy. That's why I want to see who can be the most clever and aware member of them all. Now for some stipulations to make sure everyone is playing fairly and have as likely a chance of screwing up: You must average 10 posts a day overall on the forums once the contest starts and until it finishes. I will not be making daily checks of this, but when the contest ends, I will be checking your posts to see if the averages were maintained. If the contest lasts 10 days, I'll check to see if you have made at least 100 new posts on the forums since the beginning of the contest. For those who think they lack the mental capacity to substitute words, I offer you a chance to win something as well. I want you to be my monitors. If you see a participant use either words in one of their posts, you should quote the post or send me a screenshot of the infraction. The first person to report a losing participant will win the right to have an image or message of their choosing put in the loser's signature for 30 days. Participants can oust other participants as well. That's incentive for you! Exemptions are in place for things copied and pasted from other websites, like news articles, and band/album/song/movie/book titles, but anything that comes from your own mouth, so to speak, is fair gain. Anybody who is interested, please post below. The contest will start 7:00PM EST on July 2nd. Participants - Louis (5,426 posts at start of contest) WINNER UPDATE: -- Shoutbox messages COUNT. BUT, in order for you to catch somebody in the shoutbox, it requires a screenshot. -- ANYONE can be a monitor, so you don't even have to sign up. But you still need to have 500 posts. -- Post quota checkpoints have been established for July 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. FAIL: - Jesse OUT July 2nd (Caught by Joe) - Joseph OUT July 2nd (Caught by Joe) - Dusan OUT July 3rd (Caught by Joe) - emcrak OUT July 3rd (Caught by Joe) - Dean OUT July 3rd (Caught by Joe) - Agent O OUT July 3rd (Caught by Joe) - Passport OUT July 4th (Caught by Louis) - Harlz OUT July 5th (Caught by Dean) - Sarah OUT July 5th (Caught by Joe) - Timothy OUT July 6th (Caught by Mark) - Casey OUT July 9th (Beat by Louis) - Gitsnik OUT July 9th (Beat by Louis)
Two things of note which I will edit into the original post: -- Shoutbox messages COUNT. BUT, in order for you to catch somebody in the shoutbox, it requires a screenshot. -- ANYONE can be a monitor, so you don't even have the sign up. But you still need to have 500 posts.
Remember that the contest doesn't start until the 2nd, so you can still say those words. But if you're just having fun or practicing: by all means!
Yeah, I'm practicing to become more familiar with this type of speech so that I'll get into a habit en not lose on ze first day en what not.
Same here. First few seconds of it starting, I can see myself posting "and" like 100 times in once sentence.
Bwuahaha, this again. Last time was highly amusing. Glad to see you going at it again. Also, suggestion: disallow 'it'.
