What you're referring to in A Place for my Head are four lines of allegory, the rest of the song is just plain and simple straight in the face; I would consider the crawling in the skin a real feeling, because I personally know it as crawling - it's not a word of a different domain used in exchange for another one; Hands Held High is to be taken very literally (almost) all the time as well.

Of course I know what you mean and I'm aware of the fact that every LP song got a small amount of these stylistic devices ("I feel the light betray me" - personification; "Heavy thoughts sift through dust" - metaphor; etc.), I was just surprised that several of these stylistic devices seem to appear on such small space in the new song.

But it was really just a first impression, so once we get the whole song it might turn out to be as simple as the others.

 

You have NO IDEA how I reacted when I saw the trailer lol. I gasped and started laughing uncontrollably. So strange but awesome!

I really like Mike's rapping in "Blackbirds". Sounds cool but I'm not really feeling Chester, but we'll see when it gets a full release.

Jesus this still hasn't come out? I've been hearing about this thing for God knows how long now.

New song sounds like something off of Meteora. That's about all I have to say about that.

 

I updated the news post. IGN has a release date of Friday, April 30th.

 

IGN isn't a very reliable source of info when it comes to release dates though...plus you took away the h from 'whet the appetite'

Since no one is really talking about that thing attached to the new song (you know... the game?) I guess I'll say something.

I hate to sound like such a geek but there's only one aspect I'm disappointed with in seeing this trailer and it's that the 8-bit aspect is not true 8-bit, it's colored squares skinned to a modern engine. I think by doing that, they really dropped the ball on a potentially cool concept of classic versus modern.

If I remember correctly, Mike stated the story behind 8-bit Rebellion was modernization taking over and the 8-bit LP rebelling. In that respect, I think it would have been a lot cooler if the 8-bit characters were animated as such, while everything else had that smooth look you see in the trailer. Of course I'll reserve judgment until I see this played or play it myself but as an old school gamer I can't deny I'm a little let down.

edit: And the 8-bit music isn't true 8-bit either, but I digress.

 

That's what it sound like to me as well. The song sounds great though. Really like the hard hitting old school type beat.
