Linkin Park's sophomore album, Meteora, has sold 6,114,000 copies and counting for the year 2003. Recent statistics for sales between October 31st, 2002 and November 1st, 2003 indicate that Meteora is 6-times platinum and comes in at #12 on the highest-selling albums list thus far for 2003. Other high-selling rock acts were Evanescence at #9 with Fallen and Coldplay at #11 with A Rush Of Cold Blood To The Head.

We'll try to get numbers again by year's end.

It's because Fallen is a far better album than Meteora.

And it was only out 1 week longer.

Norah Jones has 12 million. That's the highest.

Remember guys, this is worldwide, not just the US. And tkd, the Billboard Charts are US-based, not worldwide.

I gotta agree with that. Having a smash single like 'Bring Me to Life' which was the lead song on the soundtrack of an equally big movie, plus the novelty of having a female-fronted band with a voice like Amy Lee's and you've got a very large part of the reason Fallen is ahead of Meteora. So far anyway.

But putting that aside,I think Meteora has done fantastically well. Let's not forget that this is the dreaded sophomore album which has the legendary Hybrid Theory to compete with. It's more than holding it's own and more than anything, it's the consistent way it's been selling that is very impressive.

And just because I can't resist (even though I probably should), let's see Evanescence release their second album and have it be as successful as Meteora has been. And then we'll talk.

fallen was a great album, and i dont think of it as a better album than meteora but it's definatly up there...
(too bad Ben Moody mysteriously disapeared... :wth: )

i'd always wished that meteora would be as successful as HT, but its not quite possible now...
    but still, good job LP!

id say so. rockers hate everything thats not rock. its the truth. if they do like anything else, they dont like it as much as rock. like all music should revolve around drug addiction and realizing your ex-girlfriend had you p*ssy-whipped. all music is different, and i think it should remain so.
