I'm so anxious to hear Hurricane in full length now...I mean a song produced by 30STM and Brandon Flowers featuring Kanye West singing...who'd have thought we'd ever see that
I still look at this picture and go WTF?! I think Brandon plays keyboard on the track. Not sure on the producing part...? I haven't been keeping up to date with this collaboration.
I'm sorry but Kanye West and 30STM.... just don't seem to mix at all. If anything the only similarity I think there is between the two is that it is commonly said that Leto is a major jerk... Idk but it feels like they are just trying to get a big name in so people will hear it.
album is awesome. it's definitely something new. it's got elements of both the self-titled and a beautiful lie but with it's own spice thrown in. Hurricane with Kanye is fucking amazing. I can't believe how well it came together with two relatively different worlds
This album kinda suprised me. I agree with what 2xPutt said about it being having bits of both albums with something new.
After listening to the album twice now, I'm going to call it "pompous." Maybe not the best word to describe music, but that's how it comes off to me. Jared was trying to create something epic and most of it just falls flat on its face because it's not that listenable at times. There are some great moments, but in the end... it just doesn't mesh.
Admittedly I'm surprised at how good the album is. I loved the first, hated the second. But this third is so far my favorite. The songs are...grand. The production isn't terrible. I haven't heard the full thing yet though. But up through 100 Suns have been great.
I think Jared Leto tried a bit too hard to make an ultra-epic album and it backfired on him a little but I still think it's an amazing album. Hurricane and Night Of The Hunter are my favourites.
Still don't think anyone can fail at epic-ness as badly as Tom with Angels and Airwaves, but then again I haven't heard the leak yet.
The only things that bother me are the fans, or whatever they are, singing in the background in almost every song on the album. That gets annoying real quick. Also Kanye's auto tune. Other than that, I love the album. I don't love it as much as their previous albums, but perhaps one day it'll get there.
Eh, at least those albums have songs that are either catchy or listenable... some of the songs on this don't even sound like songs. It sounds like someone started preaching and added drums and keyboards and synths.
Huh? How does AVA's music sound like preaching in any way? Happy-go-lucky, everything's-gonna-be-alright, sure... and Tom seems like an egomaniac in interviews... but I fail to hear anything preachy in the lyrics.
So, I finished listening to the entire thing. I can't stand Hurricane. I agree the auto-tune killed it. I didn't really feel Closer to the Edge either. Don't hate it, but don't really care for it. Favorite songs are probably Night of the Hunter and Vox Populi.
