Linkin Park have played their second and final Summer Sonic festival date in Osaka, Japan, at the Maishima Summer Sonic Site. The show is the second of eight dates which comprise their "LIVING THINGS" Asia tour. At yesterday's Summer Sonic festival in Tokyo, before Linkin Park's own set, band members Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington made a surprise appearance during Steve Aoki's set to debut a new song they'd worked on together called "A Light That Never Comes". No details regarding release plans for the song have been made clear yet, but Mike Shinoda's deliberate use of Twitter's retweet and hashtag features has made it quite apparent that it was made for the band's upcoming Facebook game, "Recharge". Even though he was in Osaka, Aoki was not part of the day's festival lineup, instead playing a sideshow at a different venue; whether or not either artist played the song on their own at their respective shows is not currently known. With the Japan leg of this tour now completed, the band will head to the Phillipines to perform there in two days' time (their first performance in that region since 2004) before continuing on to play in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia. Kinda boring that the two setlists are so similar. I also hate when Faint is not played at the end, it's such a good closing song! I remember Chester saying they would play I'll be Gone soon in an LPU chat, I guess they changed their minds.
