This is absurd. They're streaming Metallica, which is a band whose management/whatever are really delicate and all copyright-paranoids.

Warner are just being assholes here.

One of the biggest rock bands in the world, and Warner won't even let Linkin Park be streamed. *SIGH*

I do hope if it doesn't get streamed, that we get PRO SHOTS, like every other times they've played.

The TV channel who manages the streams and broadcasts said that the band decides about their show. I tweeted them and asked them if it isn't actually the label who decides that and they replied that it's really the band & management that decide eventually

I can't see why LP wouldn't want the show tobe broadcasted but this is intriguing....

I really doubt that. Looks like the band don't have control about it. I also remember that on the Pinkpop stream, :adam: was trying to get permission to stream the show, but didn't happen.

I was thinking the same. I really can't think of a reason why the band would give Rock in Rio permission, but not Rock am Ring or Pinkpop. Maybe they really have to negotiate a deal, like how often the TV channel can broadcast the show or in general, how much of the rights have the band and how much has the channel. I just don't get how other bands like Metallica, Evanescence or Die Toten Hosen (who are a HUGE in Germany) have no problems with the stream, but Linkin Park (or whoever decides it) are so particular about it. Another idea is, that the problem is the upcoming album release. When they toured festivals with ATS, there were streams all the time (Download, iTunes, Weenie Roast), so maybe they don't like that there is a live stream of new material.
    It's all speculation though...

I agree with everything you said, but I don't think new material is an issue, because BID and LGM have been publicly released, and even LGM is so public, Warner won't shut down any sharing of the song, since the permission has been given, it's almost a free track, if I may call it that way.

I think the band wouldn't oppose to streaming a big show like this, it's a great opportunity, and it's one of the biggest festivals in the entire world. Let's hope for the best.

Yes, it was confirmed by the TV channel, that so far LP have allowed them to stream 15 minutes at 2.30 am.

Little summary of their tweets. THEY (the channel) wanted to stream LP, but the band did not want it! They will probably show 2-3 songs.

If we're discussing reasons Linkin Park / management don't want their shows live streamed let me point you to the obvious: http://downloads.linkinpark.com/

I just wish they'd give us an explanation, because some fans are screaming bloody murder and accuse them of all sorts of sorcery.

Joe, why were the shows last year streamed? Download festival, iTunes festival, Weenie Roast. All of a sudden they didn't have a problem then.

15 minutes at 2.30 am? That sucks. I think that the decision is not up to LP. What normal band wouldn't try to get as much attention as they can just before the release of a new album?
