Linkin Park Logs Ninth #1 on Alternative Songs Chart

    Billboard have posted another article on the success of Linkin Park's new single "The Catalyst", this time highlighting it's feat of becoming their 9th number one hit on the chart, following from New Divide in June 2009.

    "Linkin Park logs its ninth No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs radio airplay chart, as "The Catalyst" climbs 3-1.

    At just three weeks, the song completes the fastest flight to the chart's summit since the band's last leader, "New Divide," also reached No. 1 in its third week on the chart dated June 20, 2009.

    With its coronation, Linkin Park ties Green Day for second-most No. 1s in the Alternative Songs chart's 22-year history. The bands trail only Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have collected 11 toppers. Next in line are U2 with eight No. 1s, Foo Fighters (seven) and R.E.M. (six).     "

    When you see that they've outdone U2, the Foo Fighters and R.E.M it's just crazy. If there's ever been a band that could potentially have staying power in this generation it's Linkin Park. I mean not only have they been as successful as U2 (if not more) in the last ten years, they're also evolving and changing their sound to stay fresh. It's awesome.

    unbelievable!! i thought with the amount of hate people have for The Catalyst, i actually honestly thought the song wouldnt do good for the first time in the bands history but yet again it made it...so i will assume right now that A Thousand Suns will rock the charts!

    Its nice to see that LP is doing so well on the charts (provided I couldn't really care less about how well a band does as long as their music is great). The fact that they have passed the likes of the amazing U2 is just, should I say it, amazing! :awesome: U2 is one of the most influential groups out there, and when you have surpassed them, you KNOW you have stumbled on to greatness. This proves that Linkin Park has ":borat: Great success!"

    I really dont think ATS will be a radio album

    MTM was a perfect radio album, about all of the songs sounded like Singles. I dont think thats the case with ATS, hell TC doesn't even sound like a single!
