Im guessing he is probably not going to use those headphones live. When they play live him and everyone else but brad use ear monitors, Brad uses headphones which probably do the same job as ear monitors

 

But if Joe is like most DJs he will have to Cue up a sound on the turntables which is why DJs have headphones in the first place. He is using Serato Scratch which means he's probably not setting cut points as Serato is pretty much like real DJing. He probably won't wear them much but if he is getting ready to scratch he'll need them to cue up the sound without it going through the main speakers.
