Since Mike already gave us 5 stems of "The Catalyst", how many layers do you think (on estimate) the song has?
10. I counted once. Keyboard (Intro) Guitar Vocals (God Bless Us Everyone.) Vocals (Lift Me up, let me Go 2, God save us, like memories in cold decay) Bass Piano Turntables Keyboard 2 Keyboard 3 Electro Drums Drum Outro I guess 11..
More than that my friend, here's what I picked out in order... 1) intro sample 2) Synth Organ (the electronic organ sound playing through most of the song) 3) metronome Beat 4) Scratching 5) Bass 6) Mike vocals ('God bless us...') 7) Chaz vocals ('God Bless us...') Harmony 8) Chaz vocals ('When I close my eyes..') 9) Keyboard/midi triggers 10) Electro drums 11) Guitar 1 12) Synth Solo 13) Piano 14) Mike ('lift me up') 15) Mike ('Life me up') Harmony 16) Live Outro drums 17) Guitar 2 (left) 18) Guitar 3 (Right) 19) Chaz ('Lift me up') 20) Chaz (Lift me Up') harmony That all the main ones. I figure there are futher Vocal tracks/harmonies on the ending & possilbly another keyboard/synth in there too
It is going to be hard to find them seeing as only 5 or whatever were released for the contest. If he gave all the stems out then people would have been able to basically recreate the song.
I'm sure there are well over 50 tracks in this song. The stems they gave us aren't necessarily individual tracks on their master recordings - there's going to be an individual track for each microphone on the drum set, so there are probably around 15 tracks for the drums alone, which they mixed down to a drum track for the remix contest. If they were to actually give us all the stems, they'd probably mix them down to guitar/bass/drums/electro drums/keyboards/piano/vocals/scratching/synth, maybe a few more but probably no more than a dozen.
