Is there anyway to tie this in with the LPA arcade and track high scores? There should be a contest.

I'm guessing it'll be hosted on LPA or Keaton's site for free.

Members of the LPA should be able to get it free [members that have joined before a specific date] , everyone else should have to pay. LOL

To address some questions, this game will be hosted on LPA and it'll be an exe file. This is due to the game being far too large/long of a game to work as a loadable flash game.

Any plans for a contest? If there's no way to do a high score based contest, one idea would be to put either an easter egg somewhere within the game, or a special message at the very end, and the first person to PM or email a screenshot to Keaton wins. That would get people playing the game for sure.

We're considering something similar to the latter. There IS a high score screen in the game, but currently it's unknown how to export the scores to the internet so yeah, we'll probably have a really secret message.

No Mac, that obviously sucks. Maybe you can make it a flash game?
    Good luck.

This game is actually far too big to fit in flash (it's about 40-50 levels), and flash isn't exactly as friendly to code for as it might seem. Unfortunately the game engine just isn't compatible with Mac and that's why it's out of our hands :/.

The game is awesome and I can't wait for the final version. If you're into challenging, old school games with awesome music you're going to like it.

Suggestions: Unlock an exclusive bit-by-bit. Be able to post your top score as a signature in the forums. Download signatures/ avatars that can say various things. For example "I owned [Mark] (person you championed in points) on level X" "“Just how much do you want to save Phoenix, the bassist from Linkin Park?!” etc. These would be very fun additions to spread around to increase awareness and some happiness too ;D

Could owners of certain mobile devices one day be able to play a compatible version of the game on the go?

Because this has been asked quite a bit so far, here's my answer:
Scores are recorded in the game and when you get a game over, you're offered the chance to submit it like the old school cabinet arcades used to. It's not meant to be taken that seriously though because the amount of combat in the game pretty much means you're going to end with a high-end score. IMO, it's kind of like trying to keep a body count while watching a Rambo movie. Okay not really.

I also wanted to address this because online interactivity is possible but it's very, very complicated and goes way beyond simply adding a line of code to the game. Since this is my first full-length game I'm keeping it simple and focusing squarely on providing one hell of a single player experience, but believe me, if people dig it and support it, I'm going to try my best to add online capabilities in the future, possibly in a follow up.

Also, regarding porting this to other platforms the answer is no. The game will only be available for PC, and it's not that we don't want to port it, it's simply that we can't. No bias, no excuses, it's just not currently possible from a technical standpoint.

Anyway, I'm glad to see a lot of you are excited. I honestly wasn't sure how people were going to react. :)

What we reasonably could do, is that if people really want to hold score competitions we can create a thread around release where people post a screenshot of their top score and we rank members based on that. Sure it can be photoshopped, but we'd trust people to be honest...and it could provide some decent competition.
