What I've Done pwns New Divide in my opinion. New Divide was WAYYY overplayed when it was released, and it got to be rather annoying. To me its one of those songs where it sounds great at first, but after while you get sick of it, where as What I've Done is still listenable to my ears and i dont want to shut my iPod off after giving it a listen
Definitely New Divide. It's got more energy and is just epic. I do love WID as well, but New Divide is my favourite LP song. I absolutely love the drums in there and all the 'robotic' noises. It's one of the reasons why Transformers 2 was worth watching (well NEST anyway)
Although What I've Done's piano intro is simply iconic in it's sound, I'm going to say New Divide for the heavy breakdown before the acapella-like verse from Chester soon after. That part of the song gives me chills every time I listen to it.
What the Cookie Monster said. You have no idea how much i enjoyed saying that btw. I actually was like WTF when I first heard New Divide for some odd reason. But man did that grow on me. What I've Done actually has become maybe my least favorite LP song (but it' still a pretty good song) just because it has 0 traces of originality and it doesn't sound like Linkin Park IMO. New Divide just seems like more of a journey to me. I love the bridge! WID's bridge was lame. Again, WID is a great song, but terrible for LP's standards.
New Divide, the awesome bridge that Brad made with the mix of pick slides and sound effects is amazing, i don't know how he did it, i'd love ot know, but yeah, its very new age and has like dutchsoldier said, it has more energy to it
"What I've Done" has never gotten annoying for me, it's one of those LP songs that I could hear on the radio all the time but never get sick of. I like both songs a lot, but I really like "New Divide" more ... like, everything about it. Lyrics, composition, textures, vox effects and so on. In a way, I see it as a more aggressive incarnation of "What I've Done".
I'm serious. The "Nah nah nah" section at the end is probably one of the most beautiful moments in music in my opinion.
