an most likely estimate would be fall 2004, o wouldnt expect anything sooner than that and welcome to the forums!
a little over a month ago, when the guy on MTV2 Rock was introducing 'Numb' he said also that the new album was expected to be out Summer 2004, and he also talked about the band beginning to write new material before that.
In July, Chester said they would stgart writing and tinkering around with new ideas in 2 months from that time, being September. Meteora took 18 months to create but if you consider Reanimation to have slowed down the recording process of Meteora, then take off 3 months. This leaves 15 months to make a new album. 15 months from September 2003 is December 2004. So I still think it's late 2004, early 2005. That guy on MTV2 rock probably had no idea what he was talking about.

It's like the video of "From the inside" - it was ready 2 months ago!
Why would it be out in 2004 when all retail stores and websites have the cd/dvd combo for $25? It wont take another year to get it out.
18 months from December 2002 (when they completely finished the album) is July 2001, which is during Ozzfest, which is when they started tinkering around with new ideas. You see that on Frat Party. In numerous articles, it's said that it took 18 months, so I'm sure I'm right. And Musicman, you should probably read the thread completely, it said new album, not new dvd.
You're right about the album taking 18 months but the only reason it took that long was because of Reanimation and LP being on tour for almost 2 years straight. Normal albums take about 6 months to complete. Meaning about 2 months for prewriting and another 4 months of recording. If you go ahead from November 6 months you get to around May of 2004. Then if you consider taking a month to get everything ready, that would take you to June or early July thus making it very plausible for the new album to come out in Summer of 2004 if they started pre-writing in November. MTV2 wouldn't release that information unless they had proof of some sort that it was true. Plus, isn't it clear they are pumping out singles this fast for a reason? They want to dispose of Meteora as quickly as possible so that they can start work on another album.
15 months is actually pretty damn long. The new DT album took 3 weeks to write, and about 7 months to write, record, mix and release . And they also did a Summer Tour in there. One band (Liquid Tension Experiment, an instrumental band) did jamming for two weeks and got about about 2 hours worth of album-quality material. Anyways, what I am trying to say is I know that they are touring like hell, which is good, but I hope with two albums under their belt (not counting Reanimation or their EPs) that they can shorten the album-making process, especially if the album is only going to be 35 minutes or so long.
Quality, not quantity. I'd rather have 2 very good albums than 4 not-so-great albums in the same time period.
I feel that the band can put out good material in a short amount of time. In fact, taking so much time on Meteora, I feel, watered the lyrics down. They sound so much better when it's raw and not overproduced.
So, if the new album takes 15 month then... from 03.2003 it will be 6.2004. So I don't know what are you talking about.
