Can people not find any beauty in simplicity anymore?

    My goodness.

With that context, maybe. I don't know. When you think of the artistic ability of some of Linkin Park's members this is just crap, though. You don't have to sacrifice quality for minimalism.

I'm all for simplicity but it looks like they smudged black over a white background in photoshop and added a grain effect. Maybe if it didn't take up the entire image it would be better to take in.

You act like it's expected that Mike and/or Joe's artwork should be the cover of the album, when that's only happened once.

Once people understand that it's not just a black smudge, but actually a picture of a sun decaying/dying, I think we'll all appreciate it much more.

Funnily enough, I saw it as a black bird, no pun intended, but with the supernova comment I see it differently.

Almost like a black hole, being burst with white light, the light of a thousand suns..

Ok maybe a bit cheeky, but still ok I think

Another view would be one of those big 3-D smiley heads, firing its lazzors of white light..

Simplicity is good when it is appealing to the eye. This is something you could see in any amateur photoshop class. As someone who has designed a few websites in my time, composed music, gone very deep into the world of photography, written a book's worth of creative material, and ventured into other creative outlets, I don't see anything particularly inspiring in this as an art piece or as a representation of one's work.

THIS is an example of some stunning work in minimalism:

Note the overall tone of the piece. There's not much to focus on, with very simplistic text. Yet artistically, it's a fantastic piece of photography.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Twice out of three times. Four out of five if you count Collision Course and Reanimation. Yeah, 80% is completely unreasonable to make an assumption on.

Linkin Park is what got me into both music and art with their first album, hand in hand. The first music I wrote, the first serious art I drew looked like something out of Hybrid Theory. Reanimation improved on that with the more detailed robotic versions of the soldiers and the band members. Meteora had what, a three day freestyle art process (?) that resulted in my absolute favorite album art of all time. Collision Course wasn't in my taste but the cover was interesting and detailed. By that point Linkin Park and their art went hand in hand. I can't possibly the only one who saw the art element as being just as important as the music.

    Hybrid Theory EP: Mike
    Hybrid Theory: Mike
    Reanimation: Mike
    Meteora: Mike
    Collision Course: Mike

Um yeah, your argument is invalid.

Guys, let's face it, it's a far better album cover than MTM and Meteora.

Even if you disagree with that, surely the music is what counts.

It's more about wasting 3 days for something like this. This was NOT worth the 3 days of build-up.

    To you.

You said that as if each individual LP fan have put their entire lives on hold for the past three days waiting for this. Alot of people are going to really dig the artwork...I know I certainly like it.
