    A Thousand Suns would be an alright album name .. Nothing compared to Hybrid Theory, but then again .. What is?

    Me too. I'm hoping for "The Catalyst" being the album title and "A thousand suns" being the first single. The August 2nd might be the date of their press release for the new album. Meaning the album will be released somewhere in Novemberish (after their touring).

    This is all speculation though....

    It's not legit at all, it's a highly speculative article...and even says the letter was posted last week, when it was posted today.

    I'm not so sure I trust that link, they don't really have any source to back-up their "September" release date. They just say it in the title and never mention it again. They also say the "hand written message was posted last week" when it was only posted a few hours ago. Also, the "more electronic" sound they say the media has branded this record could be BS, I've heard no reports confirming that at all really. Sure, the term may have been thrown around, but to me this is all speculation trying to be sold as fact. There's nothing in there that has been credibly backed up.

    What does mike mean not to assume what's an album and what's a single. Is he saying not to assume that The Catalyst is a single? And if he were to mean that what would be A Thousand Suns,? Surely they wouldn't be releasing The Catalyst (album) on August 2 and it has to be The Catalyst (single) Unless they are somehow releasing this album track by track for download in some new kind of medium. And the Catalyst just happens to be the first song that is released in this new way they have planned. That's the only way I can see how The Catalyst is not a single. But if you look into it like that it also means that A Thousand Suns could be an individual track also and not be an album name or a single.

    Yeah it is interesting Mike felt the need to say that. I personally hope that A Thousand Suns isn't the album title, not because I dislike the title it's just that so many places are assuming that it is, almost to the point of announcing it as official, and having it not be the album name will teach people not to assume things.

    Of course he may just be saying this to throw us off, but part of me wants it to be wrong just to mess with my expectations and come out with something completely different.

    The Catalyst is the Single and will be out in August 2nd.

    What mike probably had to say is that he never claimed that A THOUSAND SUNS was the album name...

    So maybe he is indeed making puzzles for each track of the album!!! With that said...A THOUSAND SUNS can be the instrumental track and first of the album...as someone said earlier...

    Maybe the album name we will get when all the songs names are revealed.

    I originally theorized that he was revealing the tracks one by one and I still hope that's the case. However the sheer difficulty of that "message" and Mike saying it would be "very rewarding" made me think otherwise. However he did use the term "instrumental" twice in the blog post that confirmed that puzzle, and that made me think it was the first track of the album as it's logical to have an instrumental as an album opener, just like Foreword & Wake. Also, it's not uncommon to have the second track of the album be the single so it could very well be the case that A Thousand Suns is track 1 from the new album, which I hope it is.

    Yeah I'm thinking he more meant that ATS wasn't the album name. I'm pretty sure The Catalyst is the single name, because what else would be releasing August 2nd? Certainly not the album. If it was, they're severely behind schedule as they haven't even released a single yet :p.

    So yeah what murphyLP said.

    A Thousand Suns doesn't really sound like an instrumental song IMO. I'm not sure how you could listen to an instrumental and say "let's call it A Thousand Suns!"
    *Edit* But Yeah your right ATS might be a song!

    I really don't understand people who say things like this. How does it not sound like an instrumental? This could be argued for any title of any song and it's practically judging a book by it's cover. It's impossible to have an opinion on it until we know the context in which it is in, at least to me anyway.

    Mike better not be messing with us. Because I wasted wayyyy too much time freaking out for all of this to be fake, or for "The Catalyst" to be the name of a message or whatever.
