I figured that since we had an interesting discussion about HTML5/Flash in the iPhone thread, we could continue it on in it's own thread in more detail.

Interesting read I just found, probably more for developers, but it should give users an interesting insight of the direction of where HTML5 is going.

I'm quite particularly excited for IE9 to finally start supporting standards seriously. Granted it's not still as perfect as Chrome/Firefox, but it's getting some things right. The nightmare of IE6 is in the past, thankfully...

Remember how Apple made an HTML5 showcase? Google's done the same: http://www.html5rocks.com/ except they didn't restrict browsers, hah. There's a pretty sweet slideshow demonstrating what HTML5 can do.

I didn't even see this thread until I just read about it. haha. So far I think html5 is going pretty well and will inevitable become the standard of the web. It's not going to replace flash but it will replace some site design that is clunky and slow. There's also this site www.chromeexperiments.com to show of some things in Javascript and html5.

Well, I'm really hoping the sites that are completely made in Flash will completely die off (I haven't seen many recently, but I know there's still a lot around), since you can do a shitload using HTML5 + CSS3 + JQuery really easily.

I mean, just look at SketchPad for example, that's something that in the past would've been made with Flash, but now it's made using <canvas>. Quite remarkable. I honestly don't expect to see big games written in Flash, but something like Pong, sure.
