Nice I only had a couple mistakes from the lyrics I put down. "paid" should of been "pay" and "are a constant war" should of been "at constant war"

Perhaps mike made a typo? Because the intro has "lay" ..but then again if we just say it's a typo then that leaves room to say there are other errors in the lyrics.
But I'm pretty sure it is lay.

Actually i don't see why somebody complained about these lyrics, they are pretty awesome. Maybe too many words were misunderstood...

Couldnt agree with you more. LOVE the lyrics of this song. It really makes the song. Then again so does mikes verses. Its my favorite that they have released since MTM. I actually like it better than most of MTM.

A step in a good direction

 

Except for Mike's part I'm not sure what you guys love about the lyrics. There is the usual introspection which reminds me of Crawling and especially Easier to Run, a pretty lame bromide ("It's harder starting over than never to have changed"), and a leading metaphor ("Blackbirds") which is completely abandoned in the stanzas. Maybe it's this little bit of extrospection (displaying the environment: warm air, sheet, daylight, actions of blackbirds) which adds authenticity to the atmosphere, like they started doing it on MtM.

 

I too am not really crazy about the lyrics, but I'm not expecting Linkin Park to crank out mindblowing similes or anything like that, so it's cool. Other than Chesters slightly bored "Not Alone"-like singing style, I like the song quite a bit.

 

Here are the lyrics to the opening rap verse. Not sure how accurate they are.

Drop that / get up
Take to the streets / better lock that kid up
Face full of teeth when he hock that spit up
Pacing the beat like a beast

Speak from the cut like a rush of blood

For some reason I thought they weren't included. When I read Mike's original post earlier in the day they weren't included, at least I don't think they were.

Ah fuck it. I'm secretly trying to get my name in orange! (kidding)

 

Mike didn't take his time to check the lyrics, they missed the final chorus after Mikes last rap.

 

Unfortunately I'm going to have to give you an infraction for that. Please be careful of your wording next time. Thanks.
