For those who were previously unaware, Chester Bennington has recently teamed up with PETA as part of a brand new campaign called "Ink, Not Mink" an ad campaign where he shows off his tattooed physique (more so than he has in the past) above a tagline that reads "Be Comfortable In Your Own Skin, and Let Animals Keep Theirs". Featuring a barely clothed Chester, the image (and accompanying) interview is meant to spread awareness about the ugly and brutal act of animal skinning, a practice used to create animal furs and other products that require the use of animal skins and fur. "Electrocuting animals, skinning them while they're alive -- these are acts of inhumanity," Bennington continued "Because it's out of sight, it's usually out of mind for most people, and we need to show our respect...for all creatures of this world." I never thought he was, but he might not be a full on PETA person (no meat, vegan etc)..he might just be against the act of skinning.
That is rather disappointing. So many celebrities are big PETA supporters it seems, despite the fact that PETA tend to be extremist idiots who give their cause a bad name.
I don't see how this is disappointing. Sure, PETA does corrupt things, but it's not like Chester is going 'yeah I'm totally nuts about PETA', he's just speaking out against the skinning of animals, which I think is a good thing to do. Lots of artists get involved with PETA for the good things, but it's not like they're saying they agree 100% with everything PETA does.
For standing up for something he thinks is wrong? That makes so much sense really. For those of you that don't know, I am sure Talinda has influenced Chester in this, given that she was studying to be a vet before meeting and marrying him. I am sure her views on how animals should be treated has rubbed off on her husband. Peta is a joke and extremely hypocritical in a lot of their actions, but at least they make an effort to bring light to things that are seriously wrong in the treatment of animals. If this was an ad by any other organization at all, say the Humane Society or the ASPCA, none of you would have anything negative to say about it. /my two cents
I support some of the causes PETA fights for but like everyone else I feel they let themselves down with the bunch of nutjobs that are part of them.
I like my steaks still mooing. Serving anything past rare is a crime against humanity. The poor defenseless cow didn't die so you could cook it until it tastes like rubber.
Quite frankly he could be giving hugs and presents to orphans and should I be disappointed it'd still "make sense", being a personal opinion and all. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. I don't give people a free pass for batshit extremism because they mean well. No, no we wouldn't have anything negative to say about it. Because if it were the Human Society or ASPCA, they wouldn't be lunatics.
PETA has some good points, I'll admit, but they go about things the wrong way 90% of the time. Save the whales ring a bell? If someone wants to support something, let them. You don't know their motivations, and shouldn't even really care. It's their life is all I'm saying. You do know that modern cooks are actually trying to kill you when they do that? Even in medieval Europe, which is chastised for being so "unclean", they cooked their meat till it was done all the way through. They kinda knew it wasn't good for you to eat a bloody ass cow.
