Ok, I'm sure that all Linkin Park fans agree that after listening to new LP song the first time its wonderful. But, after listening to it over and over you eventually hear things you didn't notice at first. Well, when I listened to New Divide again and again I noticed something. Once the song starts and goes through the drums and the electronic part and then the guitar and the beat kicks in, I notice Chester was singing something. Its like he's singing "Divide" or something through the guitar riff right before the verse starts. Whatever he sings, he sings twice. And its only one word he sings twice. Its either "Divide" he sings or he's just mumbling. Has anyone else notice this or am I just high...
I think Linkin Park occasionally buries humming/vocal harmonies deep within their songs to kind of give them a layered feel, so I wouldn't be surprised if what you said is correct. Infact, I think I can even hear what you mean although I'm not sure if it's vocals or just a sample/synth. I will give one example of hidden background vocals though: listen to Annoucement Service Public. There are Coldplay style "ooohs" towards the end of the track. Definitely someone singing there.
See I agree with you and I know it HAS to be his voice because Chester has a very recognizable voice. Or maybe I'm too big of a fan and I can tell his voice apart from others lol...
Right when the guitar kicks in, at the very start, I can hear a scream in there that my brother swears he can't hear.
I think the thing in ASP is actually a synth/pad using a "choir ooh's" type of preset, it's found on a lot of keyboards and sounds pretty similar. Not really hearing what's being referred to in New Divide, but I'll give it another listen in a bit. There are some "ohh" parts towards the end of the choruses that I do hear that are kind of buried though.
anyone notice the vocal cut during the chorus after the bridge? It kinda goes "so give me rea-(cut)-son" it sounds like they tried blending 2 takes but accidently cut the beginning of the 's' sound in 'reason'.
Yeah, it would be almost impossible not to hear those sounds in this version. Thanks for posting that though, I enjoyed hearing his voice without the music in the background.
