Drifting from Linkin Park music news for a moment, On June 12th, 2009, Brad Delson, a UCLA alumni, recently gave the commencement speech to the class of 2009 of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) students.

In his speech, he talks about actor James Franco canceling on UCLA, Conan O'Brien declining to speak, Jamie Foxx, Ellen DeGeneres and sings "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" by Britney Spears. He also offers kind words of wisdom and optimism to the graduating class.

    Watch Brad's speech below.

I had to post this because it's worth a watch. Funny, and yet awkward stuff.

The end was the best part. He sure did play to his strengths. He knew what students at UCLA would connect with and find funny. Good job, Brad.

Brad did an excellent job. He was hillarious! I'd be so inspired (in a variety of ways) if he were to speak to my graduating class.

818 is the area code for the San Fernando Valley, where most of them are from.

Just in case you didn't know.

    "I'm not a girl ..."

I gotta be honest; I liked Shinoda's ACCD speech better. :) But I still have to say, it did lack a song ...

I'm a big Linkin Park fan (since age 16 and I'm now 23) and I've been on this site since age 18 or so. I haven't yet registered or anything, I just wanted the latest LP information. Well I decided to actually register to this site. Having saying that, I must say that Brad said a very speech and to hear a member of Linkin Park being involved in that kind of event just proves that Linkin Park is a very popular band world wide. Linkin Park isn't a perfect band but are still amazing. (New Divide was an awesome song. The Video was horrible. The best video by them has to be either Paper Cut or Numb.) Our parents brag about music in their time (and it was and still is good music) but now in the year 2000 Linkin Park is the band that people recognize and will be something we talk about to our kids too... I know I went off subject, but Brads speech was amazing.

Eh, to me, it just means Brad is a relatively well-known alumni of UCLA. Nowhere near as well-known as, say, James Franco, of course ... ^_^

    Glad you're a big fan. :)

This is way better than Mike's speech. He did not mention anything about his fame, but instead opted on a more creative approach that would relate to the students. He was lucky he had the James Franco debacle to poke fun of! Would've been hilarious either way. :)
