As per Mike Shinoda on his blog, "New Divide" is only the third record in history to debut in the Top 10 on the American Billboard Hot 100 Chart & Modern Rock Chart simultaneously. The other two songs to achieve this were "What I've Done" and "Speed of Sound" by Coldplay.

    Congratulations to Linkin Park!

Thanks to the_chemist for the news!

Once again, more evidence that Coldplay and LP are the hugest bands in the world by today's standards.

I want Coldplay and Linkin Park to do a mash-up called One Step Closer to Amsterdam. Also:

    Viva la Forgotten
    Figure.42

    I'll come back with more.

Oh, and congratulations to Linkin Park for the achievement.

At #6 on the charts, it's also Linkin Park's highest-charting debut on the Hot 100 of their entire career (What I've Done debuted at #7). It fell all the way down to #39 in its second week, but I think with the music video and the movie release both coming within the next few weeks, it has a good chance of getting back to the top 10.
