Reminder: "New Divide" Premieres Today

I do not like this one at all. It's the exact opposite of what I hoped new LP would sound like. It's just generic. The riff is unoriginal, the melody is predictable, theres nothing interesting going on here for me. Also, Chesters voice is kinda annoying for me on this track. Maybe it'll grow on me, but for now, I really don't like it.

 

This song is fucking awesome.

 

It's ok. They should've done more with the electronic breakdown and the guitar tone used in the intro/outro, because those are the best bits of the song. The rest is pretty generic, but enjoyable.

Is that autotune I hear in the first verse?

 

That and the vocals in the second verse make the song for me.

There's definitely some sort of distortion on the vocals at the start. It sounds deliberate though, not like they've tried to tune them and botched it or anything.

The part in the bridge really does it for me. It's so awesome.

I realise the song is new and so I'm prone to saying this but this really does have potential to be one of my favourite tracks by the band. I'm pretty high on electronic rock at the moment and I'm really loving the electronic elements of this song. I agree with Dean, the breakdown helps make the song what it is.

Its used in recording softwares like cubase and pro-tools...it aint a big deal hehe.

On another note....the new song kicks ass...specially that mid8 section!

 

I agree. I guess they wanted him to sound a robotic to fit with the whole Transformers theme.

I really like the song. Great songwriting, and the end of the chorus is a jizz-in-my-pants moment. I'm somewhat disappointed, because there's a pretty good chance that LP has abandoned all hip-hop influence. Hopefully the new album proves that notion wrong, but I'm pessimistic about it at this point. I'm trying not to let that disappointment overshadow the fact that I really like this song.

 

Breakdown is pretty nice. It is a very well produced song...but for some reason it just does not feel memorable to me. But maybe it will grow on me.

 

What a amazing song! To me it sounds like a hybrid between Hybrid Theory and MInites to Midnight with elements of What I've Done/Pushing Me Away/Session.

Hyped song delivers, not everyday that happens!

Am I the only one who thinks the second verse sounds a hell of a lot like Alice In Chains?

 

I didn't think so at first but there is something Nutshellish about the second verse definitely.

I can think of several songs on MTM and Meteora in which these lyrics are hands down better.

 

Again, this song is awesome. Though, I wish Mike did backing vocals or something. There are so many elements in this song that will make me name 5 bands off the top of my head. It's like, Alice in Chains, Orgy, Nine Inch Nails, and Linkin Park and made a song together, or maybe it was just the fact they had Zimmer working with them. Whatever it is they did, I hope they continue this sound for their next album, but with more Mike.

I wish they'd put it up on iTunes so I can get it on my iPod already.
