Isn't "Nobody's Listening" enough for you?
I don't like Nobody's Listening as much as I should because of the fact that Mike went considerably slang in the lyrics instead of delivering his usual brand of 'true hip hop' which can be found in High Voltage and It's Going Down. Lines like "Peep the style and the kids checkin for it."are not Linkin Park at all and it almost seems like Mike was caught in an identity crisis. Let's hope Mike goes decidably non-street on the next album.
i want the angry sound from ht, combind with the heavy sound from meteora, more songs topics, more song change up, maybe three verses and actually have no bridge! something new, neevr been doen before, something that has lp written all over it, and a wee bit longer
I like Hybrid Theory better than Meteora but, I don't want a rip off of H.T. you know? Keep taking it to the next level.
Meteora isn't much heavier. The main reason why Don't Stay seems heavier is basically because of the tunning it's in. An acoustic track would just be copying what the other bands have been doing... which is why BTH to me was like an acoustic song. And you think what your proposing above has anymore depth than what Meteora had? What they need to do is sit down and realize that they aren't going to become that by putting out albums like Meteora. They need to realize that they need complicated and respectable elements in their music. For some reason, I still have faith in them. There's something that makes me believe that this next album will be amazing. If it isn't, I really don't know what I will do.
I want another album that's as good as Hybrid Theory but a bit different to its two predecessors. More guitar solos, original rap and profound lyrics is what I'm looking for really. Whatever they decide to do, I hope that when I finally hear the third album, my only reaction would be 'WOW'. Blow us away

It would be kool if Mike went a little street on like 1 or 2 songs that would sound great and I cant beleave that everybody here wants another hybrid Theory dont you want something different ?
I totally agree, I want something that still sounds like LP but its gotta be new...ya know? I don't want another HT, no...I love that album but the next one needs to puch past and surpass both of them. I thought Meteora was awesome...I can relate to alot of the songs , I listen to LP to calm down...and more rap from Mike would be cool (like It's Going Down), and another slow songs from Chester like My December would just...kick...
What I want added to the next album: 1. The biggest thing - SOLOS. OH MY GOD, I'm so tired of power chords. I mean come on, there are only so many of them, and sooner or later there won't be any left! And if its true that all Brad can do are power chords, then LP won't be around much longer. So yes, I WANT SOME SOLOS. 2. Longer songs. 2:00 - 3:05 minute songs are not long enough. 3. I want the new songs to be harder and darker. 4. I wanna see what would happen if Mike sang a song, or even a part of a song. (Not just an embedded part like in Crawling, that you can barely hear.) 5. Possibly more songs, cause I know most albums have 10 - 15 songs, and 12 - 13 is in the middle, but I want a lot of LP!! I'm and LPaholic. And I don't know if anybody has read my posts lately on power chords, and I have been whining about it, but that's because I want Brad to play different stuff, then just that. I mean even if he only plays that then fine, cause I love head banging to LP. Um, no I don't think thats right. As far as I know, all LP songs are in Drop D. Thus the tuning wouldn't make it sound harder, because all of them are in the same tuning.......And I don't really think Don't Stay sounds that hard anyways. But I do agree with I kinda thought it was softer, why you ask? Well to me Hybrid Theory had more screaming-singing. Meteora, to me atleast, had more soft singing. (I.E. Easier To Run, Breaking The Habit, Numb) As to HT soft songs were Uh...Pushing Me Away, and I suppose you could call Runaway a softer one, but technically....no, it's not. But hey, this is all my opinion, you could be completely right.
I see what you mean. Both Brad and Phoenix need to step up and evolve for the next album. I wouldn't want a 5 minute solo song but a nice 30-45 second one wouldn't be that bad. The riffs are catchy but it doesn't take a creative genius to come up with them. I know Brad and Phoenix both have the talent to evolve and think more creatively, so I'm hoping for that. Brad on acoustic guitar would rock for some songs. Hell, Cold did it and "Year of the Spider" is an amazing cd.
Exactly. I mean I love the guitar sounds in all the songs, you can easily mosh to it and head bang...but if LP doesn't try different stuff they are gonna keep being called no-talent commercial sell outs. I have read that on so many websites its not even funny. And I know Mike and Chester play guitar to, I wonder if they could solo if Brad can't or something. I dunno, I just want something different.
Solos are nice, but no Metallica type solos that last 8 minutes. And I think they should try a slow, acoustic song. 2 really heavy bands, Disturbed (Darkness) and Godsmack (Serenity) did it on their latest albums and they sound great, it would be cool to see what LP can come up with
No, I don't mean long solos like that, but I mean just a little break in the song, you know? Maybe 30 seconds like LPFAN said. I like Disturbed's "Darkness", "Serenity" is okay, but lately I haven't liked godsmack as much. Faceless just really didn't do it for me.
I know I'm right because I remember reading in a magazine a couple of weeks ago where Brad goes "I used a different tunning for this song that I don't normally use." Runaway seems hard to me. A guitar solo would be nice but I think it would be nice if they had a bass solo or something like that. This would give them some credibility for trying something different. The bass guitar seems to be used as just a prop anymore and I think they should try something complex with it. For instance, on the Forgotten demo you can really tell that the bass is there and that it's complex. They need more of that. As far as making an acoustic track, I don't really like the idea. Unless they can use it in a creative way (for example how Killswitch Engage uses it in songs like "Rise Inside") then I think it would just be watering it down. Especially if they were to use an orchestra or something with it like many other bands have done. Like I said, BTH to me was like an acoustic song. I think Chester would make it sound too folky and Mike really doesn't know enough about the sound. Brad can make complex stuff but I think right now he just wants to make stuff that sounds good rather than complexity. If you ask me, I think Brad should play bass. He seems to like messing around with the rhythm of the guitar instead of trying to make complex stuff. No one can honestly say that he "sucks" at guitar because the picking on songs like Forgotten and Pushing Me Away will prove anyone wrong in my opinion. Maybe Brad and Phoenix could switch guitar and bass? After all, Phoenix came up with the most complex guitar on Meteora (that being From The Inside).
Man, I feel attacked. Okay..Runaway I think is a harder song also, but the verses are soft. I'm just saying those seem to me to be the softer ones. I also know for a fact that almost every song is in Drop D, so I don't know what it is tuned to. It sounds very close to D to me...but anyways, I don't think it's excessively heavier than anything on HT. And I really don't think its that heavy period. I mean it's a regular song from LP i think, and truthfully...LP has no really hard songs, the only metal riff I know of is A.06....people say Hit The Floor has a metal riff...but it's not really. If I were to pick out a heavy riff in actual song form from LP would be It's Goin' Down, Lying From You, One Step Closer, and the riff from A Place For My Head. I don't know much about Pheonix creating the complex From The Inside...that really isn't to complex, but I suppose it's more creative than the rest. I didn't know Pheonix created that though..hmm. Well I personally do like Brad's riffs, I mean they are fairly hard for Nu-Metal, but I don't think he should be the bassist because Brad's moving around everywhere at concerts. And, I could be wrong, but from what I have seen, Pheonix just pretty much stands there. And I dunno I just think the guitarist should be jumping around everywhere.. I play bass, and I agree with you so much about using the bass as a prop. All it is are the bare root notes and thats it. It's just so...I don't know...so blah!...and I don't see how he could play guitar very well because from what I have seen, he doesnt show much talent on the bass. I know a lot of you are probably thinking, "why is he dissing LP so much?"...I'm not dissing them...they are my favorite band...but I'm just saying that I think they need to step up and do so more complex stuff.. I also agree with the bass solo, I believe Brad and Pheonix have talent...and I believe they could do a lot more than what they do...but for some reason they aren't...I really want them to prove everyone who said they are no-talent wannabe musicians. You know? I want Brad to just shred an awesome solo and just have everyones ears buzzing, and them just to stare in awe. Anyways, there you go..thats what I think.
I agree, 100%. I would like to see a slighter broader range of topics covered in the lyrics.
The same here
