I'M OFFENDED! Just kidding. Anyways, on a lighter note, I read this on the way to work and laughed. I have a friend named Chyna (Vietnamese) and we were gonna get one of our friends to call and say they're suing because her eyes are naturally really (and I mean REALLY) wide and that is a racial offense to the European race. Okay, it might not seem funny typing it out (and without seeing her face) but this is kind of ridiculous. So if one of us eats fried chicken is it assumed to be a racial slur against African Americans? --- I also like how I was chosen to be the asian when we have a poster on the forums named theazninvasion.
It's just because you showed me AVP. I remember you from the video with the out takes to your Acoustic Guitar Cover Video.
I don't think this is a real deep investigation or anything. I think she was joking around with her friends, and took a picture doing an "Asian pose" for fun. I really don't think they were all doing squinty eyes without the idea of Asians in their head at all. It just seems like a dumb excuse to me, to pretend it was a goofy face that incidentally seemed similar to Asians. I think it is bullshit to try to sue her for it, and I doubt she intended to be racist, but I do think she was aware of what she as doing.
On another note, if I move to LA and the lawsuit actually goes THROUGH, can I get $4000? I would really like that a lot.
Someone should tell the NAACP lawyers to sue Seth McFarlane on account of Cleveland from Family Guy. Surely there's potential for a massive pay day right there.
I doubt she's going to claim it's a coincidence. There's an Asian boy in the photo with her, after all. All I'm saying's that it probably wasn't her intent to make fun of them in a negative way. They're just having fun.
Whatever she was doing, even if she intended it in the way she has been accused of, there is no way this is worth a billion dollar lawsuit and it's barely even worth being offended by it. Maybe if the next Hannah Montana film is called "I hate Chinks" or something and there's a picture of her in that pose on the posters. In fact that would be much much worse. But this is either (and I normally hate when people say things along these lines because it's often an excuse to get away with genuine defamation) political correctness gone absolutely batshit or an incredibly audacious bid at getting money for nothing.
It's ridiculous. She's 16, doing what 16 year olds do; pissing around. It does my head in the way that celebrities are treated in such a different way. Touch little kids, get away with it. Pull a face, get sued for $4 billion. Pscht.
