I have been using FF for like 5 years or something and now whenever i have to use someones's computer that has IE it just annoys me... Im not sure about the latest version of IE but the last time I used one it had tabs but ctrl+t didnt open a new one, you had to click a little button on the tab tool bar and middle clicking links didnt do the job either... that could have all changed by now but it just feels like IE slows down everything your trying to do by making it less convenient. My favorite part of firefox now though is its newer address bar. It could be in IE as well or even stolen from IE but the point is i think its genius. Whenever I want to go to a website, I type the first 2 letters and its there, ready to select so I dont have to type it out. But it doesnt even end there.. you dont actually have to type out the address or anything, ie if i looked up a wiki page for something, i can just start typing whatever that something is in my address bar and it will bring up the wiki page despite me not actually typing the begining of the address out. This just feels like it makes things so much easier...
Holy shit. I had no idea you could middle-click links to open them in new tabs. My life has just gotten so much easier.
hahaha Willstar, im glad I could help, I hate using my laptop because it has no middle click button! Esaul17... prbly one of my favorite southpark moments ever...
Firefox FTW here, because I try and boycott everything Microsoft. I got rid of IE, then my Zune, and hopefully Windows soon
Dude, Zune is a good product. MS has done a horrible job with IE, but they do other things well. They've done a great job with Xbox 360 and Zune. Their subscription service thing is pretty damn good considering you have unlimited DRM songs and get 10 DRM free songs per month. Also you can upgrade your software in the player to match whatever the current generation has. MS' biggest mistake is that they are slow to get the player into other countries and that they haven't marketed it as aggressively as they should.
That subscription service isn't all it's cracked up to be, trust me. Example: Want an artist from Wind-Up records? Gotta pay for it.
It's not perfect, but the idea is good. But then you also have other sources where you can get DRM free songs if you aren't a big buyer like from Amazon, which has a good service. Even without the service, I much prefer my Zune. I do think it gets underrated comparatively speaking.
Sure the idea is good, but why do all subscription services ultimately fail? Because they always lack something. Now I don't mean fail completely, but for example - as successful as Netflix is, they need to add to their available stream of movies. Gamefly is an awesome idea for gamers, but when you take 5-7 days to ship something, I'd rather stop being lazy and go to the local video store. Etc, etc, etc. And btw, I liked my Zune - we gots no problems
DRM is not solely stuck to MS though. Apple carries a lot of it around. Anything with multimedia pretty much carries it these days. Heck some of the older monitors required HDCP to get high definition content through to a monitor. MS has done some stupid things, but DRM is not their sole responsibility.
