This was part of my portfolio for my graphic design/photography course I did last year, and yes, I shot the picture myself and manipulated it myself. Take NOTE: this was my first time using photoshop so it took me ages to do this. I took a photo of my two friends, in which one resembled Jack White, and re-created The White Stripes' album "Get Behind Me Satan". Sorry for the size differences.

This is the original of the photo -

And this is the final product -

I liked the effects you used on the subjects but you could've done better with the background. Nonetheless it's really good for a starter ;)

mmmm What i can say :), 1st of all practicing is the only way will help ti improve your skills in Photoshop, and what you is good compairing to what i did as 1st try in photoshop :p !
as an advice, try to buy BLUE or GREEN plastic and use it as background, when you take pics, and use the tools SELECT COLOR ( i tihink im not sure about the name coz i hav Photoshop in french :) ), this will make evrything easy for ;).
you know great design they are simple, no need to put lot of effects, just try to be simple as much as you can and try to chose the right colors !
wish you the best ;) !
