Sorry, but only an idiot would download an attachment from someone he doesn't know very well. But then, even familiar e-mails which are infected can harm, so i usually don't download attachments. I try using msn for than instead.
I know that tons of people are getting virused these days and haveing to pay lots of money to repairmen to fix their computer. You can avoid all this... Thats why kiddies, we use antivirii. I myself work in a computer support chat and can direct you towards some good system shields. Here's some FREE and GOOD software that I MYSELF use to keep my system free of viral infection AVG Antivirus - Has never crapped out on me and has caught every virus I've ever had. It preformed better than Norton and McAfee. It is also FREE forever. No trials and its always fully functional. I recommend you update once every 5 days, as they release updates quite often, this is worth its bandwidth in gold (Sorry, bad nerd joke) AVG 6 Free Edition Spybot Search & Destroy This little tool will remove little unwanted programs roaming around on your HDD causing minor trouble and irritation Spybot Search & Destroy The third little tool I Would like to talk about is: Common Sense Don't download anything from porn/wares sites, and don't accept any downloads for things that pop up. On KaZaA - Don't download things that you aren't sure about. Also, check the filesize, GTA3 IS NEVER and HAS NEVER BEEN 1 megabite. Also, scan everything you download before opening. Hopefully, this can help you keep your PC free of infection
Nice one Neil, I was going to say something about spyware earlier *must update t3h bot* Anyway, I'm gonna merge this with the other topic...if I can find the URL <_>
The best antivirus IMO is Avast. Get it @ Download.com. I use it, it isn't taking much memory, and has the reputation to find more viruses than McAffee does. The database is updated often.
