Indeed. Either that or something has really buggered up your drive.

Do a complete virus check all over your computer and see if you can fix anything there - if you don't have an anti-virus: 1 - you're silly (no offence) 2 - GET ONE.

If I knew more about the problem I'd be able to help out a little more, but for the time being that'll have to do. Sorry mate :\

Can you do a scan from MS-Dos with your scanner?

It's maybe possible. Check for what seems to be a MS-DOS EXE in your scanner folder... Then, if you know how to use the command prompt in MS-DOS you know what to do... If not...

When booting : Press F8 without stopping

You will have choices : Normal boot, Safe Mode, MS-DOS, etc. Choose MS-DOS.

    Then you have C:/

You enter the location of the EXE (C:/Program Files/Norton/...) or something like this.

    Hope this helps

Have you tried rebooting your computer? Typically, that should unlock any devices

Try what Todd said. One day my CD-ROM drive locked up and I just restarted the computer. I really don't know why it did that, but it did. I just restarted it and it was OK.

Windows does that and the fact that Windows is a buggy piece 'o crap is the only explination I can think of.

Refresh your cd-rom drivers (or remove and reinstall them).

It's maybe in your BIOS. If you know how to use it, do an auto-detect of your drives. If not, ask for help :D .

Ask for someone who knows how it works, there are many BIOS and if you make a mistake you can mess everything up.

When your pc boots, press delete.
There, u'll find bios. Then, i think it's something to do with the master or slave settings of the cd-rom. Try all combinations, but DON'T change anything else than the cd-rom settings. If u think something's wrong, just don't save.
