Halloween. Nine Inch Nails. Nashville. I just put in my October 26th - November 2nd vacation too. Fuck yes.
Just bought my ticket. I'm so fucking psyched for this. Curious about why there isn't an opener, though. PLEEEEASE let it be a special appearance by Boris. PLEEEASE.
so, for those of you in the know and that are cool enough, i bet you're listening to the in-ear monitor version of the first show on the 2005 With Teeth tour, right? Just a cool little NIN rarity that a geek like me kills to download.
Josh Freese is leaving the band at the end of the year. I've heard rumors that Brian Viglione has been telling people he's joining the band, and it makes alot of sense. TDD are on hiatus, and Amanda Palmer released her solo album recently. Either way, Freese leaving sucks, as he's a godly drummer, but Brian isn't a horrible drummer in any way, shape or form.
Mmm, for a brief second, I thought Josh'd become a permanent member. Aside from what he did on "Ghosts", I haven't heard any drumming from Brian Viglione.
It is a bit of a bummer. All the band members are strong links in the chain, IMO, they're all elite musicians and Josh was the perfect fit in that respect. Trent'll choose the right guy to replace him, I'm sure.
Well, you'll like V2 a whole lot better than the album version. After I heard V2, I was, like, "What the hell was Trent thinking making that album version?" And, like, all the instruments in the album version just, then, seemed totally ridiculous and unnecessary to me. If you haven't heard V2, you can listen to and download it at remix.nin.com.
Actually i like the album version more. When Trent's voice goes from being distorted to clean it gives me the chills whereas V2 has no climax. I love the piano line in the album version and just the guitar in V2 doesn't sound as good imo. Both versions are great songs though.
Right Where It Belongs tells a story in your mind based off the sound effects he used with certain corresponding lyrics. It's really quite genius. I think V2 was released just to please those that wanted another "Hurt" for an album closer. It was stripped down like "Hurt" was. But, I agree, the original version is definately superior, in my mind.
There are days where I like V2 more, but the album version is definitely superior in many ways. It's so deceptively layered. Just when I think I know the song, I find something I never noticed again.
I know I'm late to the party, but I just heard "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" while I watched Wanted last night and I just have to say that is an awesome song and probably one of my favorite Nine Inch Nails songs.... ok... well... yeah...
