this is starting to get on my nerves a bit now.. becasue i cant link my ipod up to my PC. so therefore i cant put any new music onto it you know when you plug your ipod in via the USB cable (or any other device for that matter) and you hear the 'do do' sound (to tell you that its connected?) and ususally when that happens, itunes opens up for me as well. well thats not happening now.. although when i hook my ipod up i get a 'dododo' sound and nothing happens at all, itunes doesnt open or anything. just that my ipod lights up and then nothing.. any ideas? im sorry if this is a common problem but i dont normally use my ipod all that much unless im in my car.. then i dont have to carry loads of CDs. it just happens to be the time when i have a few new mp3s i want to pop on. thanks in advance - JJ
Plug it into a different usb port, you probably selected the option to 'do nothing' when it was plugged in one time.
same problem im affraid another thing i forgot to mention first time around.. when i unplug the ipod i get the 'dadoo' sound (to let me know that something is been disconnected). sounds to me like it is connected but wont let me do anything to it when its plugged in for some strange reason :/
My Xbox 360 controller makes that same sound (the one I'm 100% certain he's describing) when I plug it in and it works fine.
yeh other things work with that USB socket just fine, which confusing me even more :/ and yeh i just checked that out on the control pannel just then and the sound i was describing is infact 'device failed to connect' as you rightly pointed out tomi any ideas why it isnt connecting? i mean it worked fine before.. its just come on this past week or so.. hmmm im perplexed
Have you tried nagging Apple yet? If it's under warranty, then I doubt you'd have much problem getting it replaced.
its all sorted now peeps.. thanks for your comments i opened itunes up and there was a new download. now everything is back to the way it should so thanks again
