OK, I've got sort of an annoying problem. It's nothing I can't deal with, but if I can avoid it, I'd rather avoid it. Basically, when I've downloaded something, there may or may not be something in the "Comment" field in the ID3 tag. Now, I remove these, because they're pointless to me; I'll never look at them. Sometimes, though, after I've saved my new tag, I'll look at it again, and whatever I removed from the "Comment" field is sitting there, staring at me again. And sometimes still, there'll be something completely different in the "Comment" field than what I even deleted. After I remove it again, it stays gone, but it's still annoying to have to do it twice. Anyone have any idea why this happens?
That happens with me sometimes on Winamp, if that's what you use to edit tags, with tags other than the comments (I don't tend to bother editing the comments so I wouldn't know whether it's the case with them). Usually I use WMP to edit tags anyway, and that works without issue for the most part.
Yeah. I use Winamp. But I just think it's weird that something would reappear in the "Comment" field after taking something out, or that something completely different would appear there after taking something out. It just makes no sense to me. Like I said, it's nothing I can't deal with, but it's just kind of annoying, you know?
foobar2000 = Complete shit as a media player, but second to none when it comes to ID3 tagging. Might be something you want to look into if you do tag editing with any regularity.
I'll look into it. Thanks. @ tomi — Mreh? I edit them myself. I don't use databases or anything because a lot of the times they tag my songs wrong.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that wouldn't matter, if they have been set to read-only. All the other fields change to what I changed them to except for the "Comments" field. It's the only one that "resets" itself or changes to something completely different.
Not what I meant. Some programs store all tag information in a database so they don't have to modify the file. I can't remember which programs do this, but I know there's an extension for foobar that does that.
Ahhh, okay. I don't think Winamp does that since I've copied songs to my friend's computer (and he doesn't use Winamp) and the tags have stayed with the file.
