So, I have firefox 3 on dial up on a win2k machine, but the webpages keep refreshing, which is annoying, what's more annoying is that they refresh even before they finish loading, which means, well it means it's almost impossible to access a website because of it. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks

Some websites keep stuff constantly updated on their page which means constant refreshing... to say that in a very simplified way...

Check to make sure they are not autoreloading. Right click somewhere on the page and go to "Reload Every" and make sure that it is not enabled.

If it's a plugin/add on you're talking about. I don't have it. But I did manage to figure out what the problem was. It's the Skype Firefox Add-On that was causing the problem.

... that makes no sense. If the publisher updates their content, you've already downloaded the pre-update page.

That doesn't really make any sense, I get what your trying to say but just because they update their site doesn't mean your page will refresh by itself automatically, since the page is already downloaded, its loaded, its in memory, you can not add things to sites that are there without manually refreshing, if you go to a site, and the site is being updated, your page will remain the same, exactly how it was until you click that refresh button, which was not my problem. My problem was that something was causing my refresh button to automatically be clicked, thus refreshing my page, even before it's loaded. Skype plugin was the problem. Not the sites that I visted.

This is not true. A page can be updated after it's loaded. AJAX.

Example: Posting this reply. Page didn't reload.

Yes, that's true, but it was pretty safe to assume it wasn't AJAX as the original complaint was about many sites, and so little sites have this implemented, I had a pretty good idea that wasn't it.

That's true about the AJAX sites, but every site is not an AJAX site, and every site that I went to had the same exact problem, it would refresh before even fully loaded. I don't know if Google is AJAX or not but I'll use it as an example regardless, Google, it would go load the Google image and then automatically refresh, and then do it again, and again.. Same thing with other sites that I know are do not have any AJAX. But speaking of AJAX, (off topic) there's a handy online Japanese IME for when I can't access my own computer..

Oops, sorry. I forgot to add the quote, and didn't even notice. I know AJAX isn't the issue, but I was just pointing out how that statement was false. Sorry for any misunderstanding. *whistles*
