Just so you guys know, the camera shutter sample actually IS in the final version of the song, it's just really buried in the mix and the sound has been muffled to sound more like a turntable noise.

Some other differences that haven't been pointed out:

-The bass track is MUCH more well-defined than it is on the final mix.
-The guitar in the 2 pre-choruses is much louder and isn't as effected as it is on the final mix.
-The drum beat in the bridge is different (the final version has an extra snare hit in each bar).
-At the very end, the cymbal Rob hits is a much trashier-sounding china cymbal than the one he uses on the final version.
-Various samples are louder/softer than they are in the final mix (check out the part where the intro riff comes back in before the bridge).
-The overall drum sound has a lot more presence, particularly on the kick and snare.

And no, Chester does not scream "shut the fuck up" in the intro. The vocal track is EXACTLY the same recording as the final album version, either the band or David Kahne just took some vocal samples from the bridge and put them over the intro.

It's got more of a screech-like sound to it in the final mix.

Was a little disappointed because it wasn't much different, but I did like it better! There was so much hype, I thought it was gonna be something bigger and/or different

My honest opinion on the 'new old' One step closer demo (that has came to be known as 'plaster') is that its pretty good, not any significant changes excluding the intro (which is awesome by the way). However, i got to admit... there was way to much hype for a demo song that really was kind of overrated. Anyways thats just my 2 cents, by the way the hype started off ( which was Friday i think?) you would assume a full blown remixed cd or maybe a music video of some sort.

    I like :)

Biggest difference in the mix seems to be the bassline, it's damn loud. I like it better that way.
I think one "shut up" in the intro would've been sufficient, and yes, I think this is better than OSC.

Thanks heaps LPA, and all the other sites of course.

I have to admit, I was expecting something more like 'omgwtfnowaizthisiz2crzyfosho!' when the teasers were posted a few days ago. However, I'm lovin this nonetheless. Thanks to everyone who made this possible!

Why would Linkin Park give such major news as the release of a music video or a new remix album to a bunch of unofficial fansites without announcing it on their own websites? I think you're overestimating how "special" sites like LPA, LPFuse, LPProjekt, and LP Live are. It's not like we have a direct link to the band or any reliable method of obtaining official news from them before it's announced. We can only give what we're given ourselves, and hardly any of it actually comes from the band, outside of us posting news that's already been posted on LP.com, LPU, etc.

    Really cool to hear.

Did anybody mention that David Kahne hated them when they first got signed?

Yeah, Chester told Kerrang! that the then head of A&R, David Kahne, hated their guts. And now the guy is talking about helping and nurturing their budding career.

Does no one else think that is hilarious?

I wouldn't say it's the camera shutting sound, it sounds a lot like that sound in the intro of don't stay

Really wish they wouldn't have muted the bass so much on Hybrid Theory now. It makes the songs way more powerful

How about Meteora? They might as well have not had Phoenix there at all.

Meteora needed a lot more work on it than just the bass but that's just my opinion.

I think Hybrid Theory is basically perfect the way it is and Reanimation added a whole different side to it which was amazing in its own. The demos, however, are pretty good and interesting to listen to in order see how much they've evolved.
