Yeah the Foo Fighters don't like LP. Dave Grohl has criticised the band in the past aswell.

I really don't see the point of making something out of it though. So they don't like LP, who gives a crap?

I remember an instance where, if I'm not mistaken, he completely missed the point and criticised them for using samples, expecting them to recreate everything live.

Oh well, he's been no great shakes himself for, ooh, at least ten years now.

i like Select songs by the Foo Fighters

he sounds like the type of guy to not like LP because they are not simply a rock band.

Exactly. He said they used "backing tapes" which seems like such an antiquated term in the digital age. Lots of bands who use sampling and programming have to use laptops and stuff like that in their live shows. How does he expect them to replicate a reversed keyboard loop?

He's a great musician, but the shit-talking just comes off as jealous.

I don't know if it's jealousy so much as it's a misunderstanding of their live shows.

Then again I've never heard a Foo Fighters song with chopped-up and reversed acoustic guitar, so I'm probably wrong.

I think Grohl is the kind of person who will never fully understand and accept that music is evolving all the time beyond the parallels of simple guitar, drums and bass.

If you look at Foo Fighters, they hardly ever step outside that zone. They're a very traditional rock band in one sense. They're a great band but they shouldn't be hating LP just because they were willing to experiment with their music and as a result have claimed a position as one of the biggest acts of the century so far.

I doubt it's jealousy considering that, from what I gather, Foo Fighters are doing a whole lot better than LP at the moment.

Are we talking about sales wise or more like, how many years they've been around and their reputation and alike?

Both. Didn't FF's latest album outsell MTM?

I may be wrong like, I usually am on these type of things

I can't find any reliable and hard sources, but on Wikipedia it determines that Minutes To Midnight sold more than FF's new album. And I kind of don't buy how FF's album was only released in September and can outsell MTM. Maybe in the US but I don't think internationally. But whatever. >_>

Fair enough. To be honest, I have no idea when FF's album came out. Hell, I can't remember when MTM came out

The reason I thought it may have done better is that it got a load of nominations whereas MTM got fuck all

Anyway, you're right and I was wrong. :)

Yeah, I guess the media didn't really like the new album released. I can somewhat figure out why, but partially cannot. I just guess professional reviewers frankly just don't have that same feeling of being emotionally connected with the music. Also most people compare their previous works with Minutes To Midnight; thus lowering its score and review due to change.

But just you wait! The fourth album by Linkin Park will rock this world! >_<

Very true, although I have to say that Linkin Park aren't as inventive like they used to be on Hybrid Theory when it comes to recorded music but they seem to get better still when it comes to playing live. Which makes Grohl's comments look completely ridiculous...

I have a great deal of respect for Dave Grohl, partly because how he keeps succeeding to make amazing music, partly because of his reputation as a music, partly because he's amazing live and partly because he keeps making "traditional" rock music.

...I don't see this as a jab at LP at all.

And then Jay-Z came out and fucked it up and completely disgraced Yesterday and everything else the Beatles had ever done.
