So, about a day ago, after I went to watch I Am legend with my girlfriend I dropped some quarters on my way home. When I picked up the quarters, I didn't notice this sign jutting out of the wall, and I smacked the back of my head really, really hard. So, of course it hurt like hell, and I ignored it. However, a few hours later, I am experiencing some really weird things. I felt disoriented, and just a few minutes ago my forearms went tingly and numb, and I could not scrunch my hands into a fist very well. I also have trouble concentrating right now, and whenever I tried to concentrate on drawing, reading, studying, the back of my head becomes very tingly. Have any of you experienced this? Or am I just being very paranoid? I just don't want to get up and go to the doctors if I don't need to XD. I also googled arount to see what might be wrong with me, but most of the symptoms they describe are mostly for serious head traumas i.e. Concussions, etc.
Being an EMT, I can pretty much guarantee that what you have is a concussion. You should get it checked out, and be very careful the next few days. Don't drive, hell if it wasn't night time I'd say it wouldn't be a good idea to sleep, but just be very very careful.
Very true. When I was a Freshman in high school, I took a fall and whacked the back of my head on the concrete, knocking me out cold for a few minutes. It actually happened at the school, so they took me to the hospital. I ended up having what's called a Epidural Hematoma (the back of my head was very soft and spongy like a babies skull, and hurt like hell and blurred my vision when touched), and bruised my skull to the point of almost breaking it (usually if the skull fractures, you die). They told me not to sleep because I had a severe concussion because if you go to sleep with a concussion theres a chance you could also die. Just get it checked like Nate said. I've hate a lot of bumps on the head and plenty of concussions, sleeping is the last thing you wanna do no matter how tired you feel.
If you didn't go there already I'd go straight to the hospital. I got a concussion once when someone threw a piece of pottery at my head (yup, I know..) and I almost made the mistake of falling asleep. My parents took me right to the hospital.
Yep sounds like a concussion alright. I got similar symptoms when I got elbowed in the temple in the pit at the Papa Roach show a few years ago and after a visit to the hospital they said it was a concussion. It was actually one of the scariest things that's ever happened to me because as the music was playing and I was being pushed around in the pit it was like I had no control of my body and I was only moving on instinct of not wanting to fall and be trampled on. The flashing lights were so bright to me aswell that I had to shut my eyes at times. The freakiest thing though is that my temples were throbbing and as they were the music would switch volume, kinda like playing with the sound on a stereo flicking it from loud to quiet. Thankfully for me this all happened towards the end of the set and my friend helped me home. My mother drove me to the hostpital and for all this time I had like a spasm in my arm that would make my whole arm shake. It was a pretty screwed up experience. As a result, I got blackouts for a few months afterwards where it was like my whole body would just suddenly reboot. When I first got one of those it was about 20 times more scary because I would literally just momentarilly pass out. Don't let me scare you like this though, I was told that my case was rare. Plus the guy who elbowed me was like the Big Show on steroids.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I thought that I was merely being paranoid, but I guess not. Well, I just came back from an appointment with my family doctor. It seems that I did suffer a concussion, but said that it's nothing to worry about, since I haven't had any pains associated with it. He claimed that it should go away in about a week, and that I should stay away from physical activities that require a lot of strength. I'm still worried though, because he said that eventually I could experience piercing pains, loss of memory, etc. in the next few weeks and advised me to see him again if any of that should occur. Apparantly, if I am bleeding on the inside I should be experiencing excruciating headaches. To be honest, I wish that I would've received an injury like this through rugby or something lmao. It's just going to be embarassing to talk about how I got this minor concussion now.
oh its not embarrassing when you get a potential life or death injury as ridiculous as it might be how you got it
Don`t worry, you`re not only one...Some of my friends smokes and they want mte to smoke too...The Cigarettes are bad for lungs and that is bad for experience too...it`s analogical case like yours...
Reminds me of the time that me and my older sister we're going to chruch with her friend, and her friend crashed into a taxi, as I was in the process of bulkling my seatbelt, that was a very painful week, for me and my older sister. I can honestly say about a week after this had happened I'd lost faith in the GOD that the bible tries to make you believe in.
