Rock music is worth listening to.. At least I could all or at least majority of you to agree because in one way or another, you have a good perception or idea on rock music since you are LP fans..

As for my opinion, I think we are one of the few people who see rock music as beautiful.. Many label it as "noise" and that all the rockers do are to "scream" and nothing more.. I know you guys disagree on this.. I am going to write something about persuading others to believe that rock music is worth listening to and I need your help guys by posting your opinions to make this composition richer.. Please.. please help me..

    Thanks!

In the name of rock music.. let's all unite..

I know I PMed you this response already, but I thought I'd share this with everyone else to get their mind's tinkin' with ideas.

Rock music, especially today, includes so much variety, that more people are beginning to enjoy what was once just subtitled as "noise." There's hard rock, alternative rock, rap rock, just to name a few popular types.

Artists today include Coldplay, Linkin Park, Dashboard Confessional, Korn, Static-X, The Cranberries, and so much more. Rock music, once you actually take time to listen to the lyrics, is very profound, so influential, it's almost impossible not to like a few artists/bands and/or songs. Rock music's lyrics aren't always about partying and girls or using the F word constantly, like many tend to believe; rock music has lyrics that are universal to all of us. I can truly say that statement without hesitation. I know all of us have had times when we've "tried so hard...got so far...but in the end," it didn't even matter (Linkin Park). I know we've all had to say goodbye to someone special, just like the lyrics in this Coldplay song:

    Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
    Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Myself, I consider rock music to be pretty much almost any band with guitars and drums. Rock music is univesral because its language since most of the time, it points to one thing when you get down to it - love. The wonders of love, the insanity of love, the betraying of love, the joys of love, the stupidness of love...you can find it all in rock. It's easy to just turn on a CD of Dashboard Confessional or Adema and cry your eyes out because rock music, or music in general, helps us with our daily lives and emotions; our situations. Rock music helps us get by, helps us relate, helps us talk to people...helps us to understand.

Take time to simply put your bias aside and listen to some songs until you find that perfect song or two that defies you right now, because just like your life and feelings always change, rock music does as well - it changes with you so that when you feel sad, you can pick a sad song to relate to, or when you feel glad, vice versa.

Rock music is also very energetic and fun. It's great music to have a good time with, to dance to, or just listen to your friends and enjoy. There's nothing more satisfying than hearing riffs of a guitar, strums of a bass, and kicks and snares of a drum player. Rock music is life; try it.

Yeah.. you've PMed me.. thanks.. I'm posting a thread so that I'll get more replies. I know there are a lot of intellectual people here like you.

Btw, What can you say about this webpage.. I really hate reading this because it is one sided, biased. At the same time, I was surprised that these people have said those words. It all contains negative views on rock music.

    http://www.tex-is.net/users/csbrocato/rockmus.htm

I want to clarify this.. There are a lot of rock bands and you have to pick what band you should listen to. There are a lot of good bands there and there are also some who do not know what exactly they are playing. There are some rockers out there who do not even know the meaning of rock. Since people always look on the negative side, they tend to point out these unpleasant bands and take it collectively that that is rock music. Nothing but noise. Full of evil. And there are just some people who do not know how to understand lyrics.

I briefly read through that page, it was completely unfairly written; it simply looked at rock music's so-called negative side.

Well of course his opinion will be like that when he's been brainwashed by the bible to believe everything is evil ;) He's one of those religious extremists. Homosexuality, evil. Pre-marital sex, evil. Judiasm, Islam, Athiesm, Hinduism, Buddism, evil. Bad words, evil. Liberals, evil. Church & State are seperate, evil. Abortion, evil.

of course he'll think rock music is evil, he's been brainwashed by religion.

I go against pre- marital sex.. that's my point of view. I'm just living out what I think is right. I am a Catholic but not an extremist like that person who made that webpage.

Ahh.. can you please answer my original question.. Why is rock music worth listening to?

IMO, its worth listening to because I like it. Half the time I dont even pay attention to the meaning of the song. If it sounds good, I listen to it. Thats what makes it worth listening to, what it sounds like, not neccisarily what it means.

That guy might be entitled to his opinion but that is, nonetheless, a very ignorant one. Obviously, he knows nothing about rock music. Rock isn't all about Black Sabbath, KISS or Ozzy Osbourne. There are so many great bands out there that all fall into the 'rock' category. Some of them (like LP) are actually very sensible and talented bands. It's too bad that he's a religious bigot and he can't understand that.

    yeah.. exactly!

I don't think he knows the different types of rock music. There is even Christian rock, right? He is generalizing too much.. As what I've said you have to choose your band. Not all rock bands are good because there are some bands who do not even know rock music.. tsk tsk.. shame on them
