Public speaking. One of the worst parts of school. The hard thinking of what your topic is going to be. The lame topic suggestions from the teachers, and the one week deadline. Every year I have trouble finding a topic, leading to a C grade or lower. This year, I want a (how to put this), stupid, funny, and weird topic. Or just from jsut one of the three catagories. I was thinking of doing one on boredom, but scratched that. Although I might do it. Then there was a topic on speeches itself. Talking about how crappy they were. Which completely is on your sole opinion. Now, after just reading those three short paragraphs you must no what I'm asking for. If you don't, it's just a sad, sad world. I'm asking for topic suggestions. Nothing lame like "Teen Sexuality" which is done just about every year by around 400 random people. I want something original(Excluding the fact it isn't that original because you gave me the idea.). I don't care if you tell me to do one on masturbation, it's already been done before. Just give me idea's fellow slaves of public speeches. (If you aren't subjected to public speeches then I envy you and you are the luckiest person in my books.)
Do one on how reality television sucks ass. I got a nice A when I did one on that. Or do one on the goods and bads of downloading music.
Oooh, good ones. I usually choose big news stories because I watch alot of news and I don't need to do any research.,
I hate giving speeches in class. I'm not good in front of people at all. I stumble around my words and my voice cracks because I'm so nervous. This year in English it's going to be even worse because of all the preps, and all the preppy chicks who don't know what a B is sit right up at the front of the room. So if you screw up, they're the first to know. Anyway, go for something really simple and easy to research. Something that you believe in also helps. In 9th grade I did a speech on something that had to deal with NASCAR. Yeah, I might have been speaking like a redneck but I was the only 100%.
I've had to do a few public speeches...but luckily not recently. I didn't really get to pick my topic for my senior paper because I was in AP Literature instead of Speech & Exposition. I never was good at public speaking, but I've improved of late. No longer does my voice faulter and I don't talk so quickly when I'm nervous. Plus I've learned to keep eye contact, blah blah blah. Anyway, you want topics? You should do something you really feel strongly about, that way you will actually want to do the research, and maybe then you'll get a better grade because you're more into giving the speech. My suggestions are meditate on what your favorite subject matters are and select a topic that won't bore you to death.
I don't want to do a single bit of research because when I do I day-dream. Whatever I do I'm throwing my opinion in on everything. Last year I put my opinion on every peice of writing I did and I had all 80's plus. Even my L.A. exam had my opinion all over it. and I came out with an 80 something. I might just pick somethoing from the news and rant about it.
welll theres been alot recently about the age of legal sex being lowered to 14, u could od that.......
Wow...that's messed up. I can only imagine those freshmen even more messed up than they already are (no offense to freshmen here...but yes I hope I offended freshmen at my school, they deserve it )
:wth:  [/b][/quote] Amy is so gonna smack you for that one. lmao. um Aaron, u could talk about technology and how it is awesum and stuff. :shrugs:
Yeah. That or how much Linkin Park rules and explain about the bands history. You must know loads already.
I did a speech on homophobia (which annoys me terribly) and that got me an A. I'd say pick something controversial so you have a lot to say and you'll probably get more feedback from your audience. Something you feel strongly about would also help. I think the pros and cons of downloading music is a pretty good topic.
Another idea of mine: Do one on how the M in MTV doesn't exist anymore. Say how the channel is cluttered with reality shows, sports, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, and uhhh....more crap. How often do they play FULL music videos on that channel? Not often, and when they do, it's the same damn mainstream videos on rotation.
Of course you don't. Okay, do one on premarital sex. That speech can contain your opinion and the opposing opinion as well so that you look professional. I Don't think you'll need to do background info. for that.
My friend gets it on satelite and I can't even watch it for 30 seconds without seeing some out of the ordinary bullshit. I'll think about that Jonny.
I'm really good at public speaking. I most of the time memorize a bit of my speech (even though its on paper) so I can make some eye contact with the audiance(sp?) at hand All the suggestions so far have been really good. Just write the speech on something you believe in, and that way you can speak freely...you get what I mean? Yeah...
