i can't get into the LPU right now. it says: [QUOT=CLIQUE]An application error occurred during your request. If the problem doesn't go away in a couple of hours contact Customer Support for additional assistance.[/QUOTE] did LPU 7 begin, and no one tell me?
Yeah it does that sometimes, i doubt its anything to do with the overhaul. We've still got a couple more weeks yet i believe.
It was like November 22nd or so every year until last year, when it was December 6th. They aren't late.
I wonder what will be on 7.0....I'm thinking six high quality tracks from Live Earth, or maybe even that new song that LP got an inspiration for on the way to Asia.
Jeez you'd want more live tracks, or were you saying that'll probably happen? I hope there is a decent amount of new material on LPU7, but it's almost a certain they'll put some live tracks on there to fill up some space.
i would like to see some new material but like you said there - its almost garenteed that they'll be some lives tracks on the cd :/
we'd all love demos, b-sides or the likes; but truth is, we will probably be getting live tracks. If you guys are already in the LPU, check out Astat's post about LPU 7.0 on the LPU message board. He pretty much nails it right on the head, it's beautiful and brilliant and I agree with his facts.
Im going to predict that the CD will have No Roads Left, some live tracks, and maybe a new song or 2. They had about 30 songs written for MTM, right? I hope that they'll put some of those on there.
From what I understand, they recorded 17 tracks for MTM, so that means they should have 5 finished tracks left over (one of those being No Roads Left). I think, at best, they'll put another 1-2 B-Sides on it, along with NRL. Even that may be wishful thinking at this point.
^ Where are you getting 17 recorded songs from? They wrote over a 100, narrowed that to 35 i think, then Mike made a comment about narrowing down what they wrote, key word what they wrote, to around 17. LP SHOULD released a few bsides but judging by past LPU's I wouldn't hold my breath. I mean why wasn't there any meteora bsides for example? It just seems like LP goes into the studio and only masters songs they're going to use, the rest are just experimental like qwerty ( although it ended up being released only because they wanted to get something new out there because of the long hiatus), grecian, japan, etc
You kind of answered the question yourself. They "wrote" over 100 song ideas, but they in-fact only recorded 17 songs for album consideration. All of the other stuff is just demo's, and are likely too rough to consider for release (not being mixed or mastered). I admit I don't remember where I heard they only recorded 17, but if I'm off it's only by a little bit. I can guarantee you that Astat likely knows, though.
17 full tracks (18 now with that Taiwan song) 12 on the CD 6 songs with strings recorded for them. 4 on MTM. 1 is No Roads Left. number 6 should be on LPU 7.
Great I love LP songs when they use stings..Hopefully this years LPU is good, with LP coming back stateside next year for some shows it'll be a good move to gain some more momentum with some fan favs through bsides and whatnot
Pretty much everything in here has been answered, the one thing I'd like to add is that I find it doubtful that No Roads Left will be on LPU7, considering it's now been released on CD as a bonus track on the Minutes to Midnight Tour Edition.
I agree with Astat. They're not going to release a song that's already on another CD. Or at least, not a song that's not well known.
