Haha. My ISP has been cutting in and out all day, but I've gotten the patch. I was kind of scared so I called my ISP. Turns out they've been having problems all day and there was a simple fix. Ahh, the joys of being up-to-date.
That's been happening to my computer since yesterday and I've almost resorted to smashing it in. My brother had this link thing his friend gave him and we downloaded whatever it was and it didn't work. I'll definitely have to try out this link. I'm hating the computer I'm on now. It's soooooo sloooooowwww :argh:
Damn, I finally got back on the internet. The virus thingy that kept restarting my computer, I think it messed up my internet connection, so I couldn't go on the internet for a day or so, and I couldn't download the damn patch. Damn computer. Damn virus!
Yes it attempts to perform a denial of service (DOS) on Microsoft's website to try and keep you from downloading a fix for it. It's very easy to remove but a possible pain in the a$$ to fix if the virus is in full effect and you haven't downloaded the patch. But anyways I downloaded it without SP1 and I seem to be doing fine as should any other people without SP1, as Will lacks SP1 but is using the patch problem free as well. I never recieved the message but now I know I wont at all. I've changed this thread to "MSBLAST.EXE Worm Support Thread", for people who are infected with this horrible worm.
IT'S JUST ######' EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL!!!
It's scary because you hear about viruses in the news all the time and I just say "I got Norton, who cares?" but somehow, this sh*t bypassed my Norton because it makes it seem like a normal program or something, like a regular .EXE when really it's trying to shut you down.
Damn, I'm trying to download the patch thing that Jonny said, but I can't because I have dial-up, and it always takes hella long to download something (about an hour or so for the patch), and in 2 minutes, my computer will probably shut down again. How the #### am I going to get this patch?
Terry, do you know anyone nearby you who has a fast connection? If so, download the patch at their house, burn it onto a CD, bring it to your house, and install it. If all else fails, I'll be glad to send it to you via mail since we don't live that far.
People who create these viruses usually have Norton on their computer, and test it to specifically bypass it. I'm running Win 98, and i'm good to go so far.
