Some of you might remember these lyrics because they've been posted a few times before here. I always thought for some reason that this is one of my best pieces of work so I revise it and change things every now and then to try and make them even better. In the past this song has has the names 'The Assignment' and 'Lost Cause' but now bares the name 'Sin Soaked And Falling Fast'. I think this title is alot more catchy than the previous titles so all I can say now is enjoy. :)

    Sin Soaked And Falling Fast

We're in the sky, in a plane at night
Our parachutes a’ ready, preparing for the fight
When we hit ground, our mission is to kill
Ignore the white flags, and just let the blood spill
Take over the city, kill all who oppose
Make laws of our own, seal off all the exit roads
Capture the leader, and sell it to the press
Capture civilians, and make them confess
Destroy all defences, blow up the all bases
Ignore the blind terror, on the children’s faces
Their parents are dead, we call it friendly fire
As we continue to kill for the cause of a liar

These are the lives in this sin-soaked land
We fear every day that our time is at hand
But the only thing to fear is fear itself
So I must stay strong so I can leave this hell

    Take me away from here
Back home with you is what I most desire
    Help me I’m falling fast
As my gun kills for the sake of a liar

My best friend’s dead, as we move down the land
Another storm is brewing, the time is at hand
Time to get my gun, from my blood soaked bag
A picture of you, reminds me of all the times we had
I start to reminisce, because it could be my last chance
I prey for you all as out the window I glance
I see other troops, on the side of the lane
Burning the bodies of all the people that they've blown away
The thickness of the air, gives us all the smell
Of the burning of souls as we drive down a road in hell
And while I’m trying not to heave, I’m trying to believe
That this burial site will have no place for me

These are the lives in this sin-soaked land
We fear every day that our time is at hand
But the only thing to fear is fear itself
So I must stay strong so I can leave this hell

    Take me away from here
Back home with you is what I most desire
    Help me I’m falling fast
As my gun kills for the sake of a liar

Dulce et decorum est pr patria mori (x4)
(It’s good and glorious to die for your country)

    Falling fast…
I see the darkness all around me
I can see you crying for me
    Falling fast…
For a cause I never believed
Maybe one day my leader will come to set me free

    Take me away from here
Back home with you is what I most desire
    Help me I’m falling fast
As my gun kills for the sake of a liar

    Falling fast…
    Take me away from here
Back home with you is what I most desire
    Falling fast…
    Take me away from here
A honourable death for the sake of a liar

Nice work. You're right about it being one of your best. I like the latin in it, I think it gives the song a kick (the only way I can describe it really). There's some nice, powerful words in there, good work.

Nice work, Hellflame. One question: What was the inspiration to write this? That lyrics remind me of Linkin Park's No More Sorrow.

First of all I'd like to say thanks to everyone who commented on this. It's cool to know that a good amount of people liked this. :)

Secondly this piece of writing was first drafted in around late 2003 at the height of the Iraq War under the title previously mentioned 'Lost Cause'. I guess you could say that the Iraq war was my main inspiration in writing this but to be honest it could draw inspiration from any other war. For example the line written in Latin 'Dulce et decorum est...' was actualy taken from the Wilfred Owen poem about the first world war. I get what you're saying though Roubin in that it shares similar themes to that of No More Sorrow, however in my opinion is a very different set of lyrics. :)
