How would you classify Linkin Park?

Some people say it's nu metal (or rap-rock)..

Some say it's rock..

Chester thinks he's a rock star :wth:

And Brad says "the biggest misconception about us is that we're a rock band."

How would you classify LP?

 

Linkin Park is Linkin Park.

 

I don't think it matters what Linkin Park is. As long as they keep doing what they're doing.

 

Linkin Park is a hybrid theory... They're so unique and different from pretty much every other band that I can't--nor do I want to--label them.

 

I like to label them as music, thanks.

 

They are ... ummm... i cant think of what to classify them as, but they are very very good at what they are

 

I don't think people should spend so much time, trying to classify them into a category. Just enjoy their music.

 

I classify LP as LP.

 

Well i would classify them as nu-metal. but at the same time though they are also a unique nu-metal band which would possibly make them something else other than nu-metal. But they are definitely the best at the kind of music they do. So yah rock on LP.

 

When you put labels on stuff, it becomes watered down, like 'pop'. Linkin Park is in its own catagory. They're a unique, innovative, band thats different from any other band. Linkin Park is Linkin Park.

 

Wait, I change my mind... I classify Linkin Park as pop wannabes like Nsync... They do all those cool dances on stage. I love the dance they do to "Faint". LyK oMg!!!1111!!!!!!11 1 11 111111111!!!!

Seriously though...

I would classify them more as Backstreet Boys-type stuff because they look cooler.

I personally like when Chester and Mike do a duet version of Nsync's "Bye Bye Bye" live--I think they do it very well.

Overall.

Linkin Park is the new Nsync.

Yeah... that's what my friends tell me too .

They think I'm gonna' be held up in a robbery or something one day, and I'm going to make a joke of it and they're going to kill me .

 

I hate when the critics start comparing and classifying bands, I usually don't take critics advice on CDs...they compare these bands to the Stones or Led Zeppelin and think that that is a GOOD comparision!

Linkin Park is just Linkin Park...that why they are soo cool becuase you really cant classify them as somehing.

 

I don't think you can really classify them as anything. You can't just call them rap-rock because they mix techno and some other elements in there. If anything, I would say they are nu-metal (although, they are probably the most different Nu-Metalish band out there).

Labeling LP would go against what the original idea of Linkin Park. I think they all got tired of the same music and just wanted to combine all of their favorite types of music into one thing. There's always going to be exceptions with what you label them as.. except for just calling them a Hybrid. Which is what they are. I can't think of another band that fits that category and makes it sound so good.

 

I label them as the band who sound like evanescence heheh

 

I think they r the GOD of Nu Metal... don't you think??
