'Kinell, thanks for the response. A few of these bands i've heard, most I haven't. I'll try systematically work my way through and listen to them all. Evermore are awful by the way. I am Australian.
Have you heard of that one band, Linkin Park? I hear they're pretty damn awesome. Just kidding (about recommending Linkin Park in a thread / forum like such). If there was any band I'd recommend to you, it'd be Muse. I'd also recommend Placebo, Interpol, and Franz Ferdinand. They're not much like the bands you requested them to sound like, but they've got an interesting sound. Check them out.
I'm just going to be different and list all the bands that I own a CD from. Maybe that way if you see a name that you havn't seen before, or have seen but havn't heard anything from them, then you can check them out, if you wish to do so. Some of them are obvious, though. I just straight up copied this from my MySpace. Linkin Park Fort Minor KoRn Ill Niño Phoenix Mourning System Of A Down Shinedown Metallica Lacuna Coil Flyleaf Evanescence Crossfade Dark New Day Disturbed Staind Taproot Skillet 10 Years Fireflight Gorillaz Killswitch Engage Breaking Benjamin Adema The Blank Theory 3 Doors Down Hinder Atreyu Three Days Grace Sorry if this stretches the board, I figured it would be easier to read this way.
Oooh, a Kaddisfly fan! Lovely! Yeah, "Five Tears" is a really good song. They have many others, but that one would definitely be a good starter.
In case you visit this thread again: try listening to ADAGIO, then maybe SYMPHONY X and OUTWORLD... Don't know if you like progressive rock, neoclassical metal etc.
Some days I put my playlist on random and end up chopping through about 200 at one time before I find a song that suits my mood. Doesn't help I have the 'what you are listening to' on MSN and everyone is like "Wha!!" when I flip songs... if all else fails I listen to good old oldies
I think Enter Shikari are ace and put on an amazing live show. However, I feel that the demo versions of a lot of their songs are better than the versions on Take To The Skies. As for suggestion music, I'm not really sure. Try Glassjaw, Armor For Sleep, Halifax's The Inevitability Of A Strange World, The Beatiful Mistake perhaps, The Outline and I'd agree with At The Drive-In aswell. Try listening to this local Liverpool band called Signified aswell: http://www.myspace.com/signifiedband not sure what you'll think but you never know And, as a shameless plug: http://www.myspace.com/vacancyin305
Don't get me wrong Dave, Enter Shikari aren't a bad band by any means. I just don't think they're anywhere near what their potential could and probably should be.
Chevelle- (Any of their CD's) Vena Sera, Point #1, This Type Of Thinking Could Do Us In, Wonder What's Next... Deftones- Around The Fur Evanescence- The Open Door Hurt- Vol. 1 Karnivool- Themata Incubus- Light Grenades Finger Eleven- Them Vs. You Vs. Me Hoobastank- Every Man For Himself Saliva- Blood Stained Love Story HELLYEAH- HELLYEAH Rammstein- Rosenrot Taproot- Blue-Sky Research/Gift/Welcome
The way I see Enter Shikari is that they realised they were crap at metal and added crap dance samples.
here are some Random good songs...hope u like them: *Within Temptation Feat Keith Caputo - What Have You Done *One Republic - Apologize *Papa Roach - Forever *Live - The Dolphins Cry *Long-View - Further *P.O.D - Going In Blind *Incubus - Love Hurts *Leave's Eyes - Norwegian Lovesong
Try getting into more extreme styles, and look into what you buy. Buy band DVDs, get music mags, find the band's webpage. A miniature obsession usually works.
