My friends computer has been hacked or tracked by someone. Is there a way to get the person out? or find out how they are doing it?

    Yes.

    *cracks up laughing*

You need 3 things: an anti-virus, anti-spyware, and a firewall. And if you're using IE, add in Firefox too.

I've ran an anti-virus, anti-spyware, and there are 2 firewalls. apparently this guy says he's deep into the computer and can't be found. what's the strongest tool to find this stuff.

*sneezes* I must be allergic to something...

Tell your guy to install NOD32, Spybot: Search and Destroy, and Adaware [my weapons of choice], then restart into safe mode and scan. Hardly anything can hide in safe mode. I'd sugggest a firewall, but I personally couldn't tell you because a) I use my router as a firewall, b) I'd recommend OneCare, as I'm currently beta testing it, but it requires moolah and it's a Microsoft product, so don't bother.

If all else fails, format and install Linux.

Get a firewall that reports ips.

I hate to recommend it, but norton internet security will do it.

Reporting ips serves no purpose. Assuming the hacker isn't using a proxy and you get a real ip, law enforcement and most ISPs don't give a shit about hacking cases until damages are in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Don't waste money or system resources on a piece of shit like Norton. Get a hardware router, put your computer behind it, and you're just as safe.

Of course, he was actually hacked, which I doubt. probably a ID10T error.

    I doubt it.

For someone who doesn't know enough to protect from intrusion, Norton Internet Security has a great user interface and ip location as well as a detailed description of whats happening, what they're doing, and all that. Too bad it eats resources like a bitch. Just install it for a day to figure it all out.

What's more fun is trying to fully uninstall a Norton product...

Download and install NOD32, boot into safe mode, and scan. See if that works. If it does, you're ditching all of your other shit products for NOD32.

NOD32 modifies the Winsock layer of Windows to insert it's POP3 proxy. In the event Nod screws out it will stop your machine getting any traffic in or out ;)

In other words, that's not good.

You're saying that as if NOD32 is the only one that does it.
