i am gonna start this thread because i know theres a lot of guitar players out there that just don't understand sometimes (like me), and either are just beginning or wondering what tune certain songs are played in ETC, so to start this topic off does anybody know what tune these songs are played in Faint - linkin park My Curse - Killswitch Engage Adams Song - Blink 182
What about the people with 7 string guitars? Or how about the awesome bassists? Hmmm? DISCRIMINATION!
To answer your question, here's the tunings for those songs (from low to high): Faint: Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (most LP songs are in this tuning) My Curse: C G C F A D (I'm pretty sure Killswitch always uses this tuning) Adams Song: D G C F A D (Most Blink is in standard tuning, this is one of their oddball-tuned songs)
ok then LOL forgot bout 7 string..actually..i never knew there was a 7 string..so can a admin or moderator just change the name to Guitar Help Thread, there so every kind of guitar
Does anybody know a way to help train you to do solos? Because I trying to learn Like Light to flies and the solo(s) are pretty hard.
Know your scales and how they all connect to each other on the fretboard. Knowing all the different kinds of scales will help a lot too (so not just the major and minors...)
Always, escpecially for songs like that (LLTTF can be a bitch to learn, I know), start out slow. Break the solo down into individual licks, learn them, then put them all together. Soon enough, you won't even have to do that to play a lot of solos.
Anybody know the tuning Brad uses on "by myself" in live in Texas dvd, im trying to do the beginning part, it sounds so awesome, (i try small parts of songs because i am still learning, i just got my guitar for Christmas and all i can play is the whole beginning part of hypnotize, the beginning of adams song and a little of this by myself but i need the tuning)
My gut instinct says Brad uses a 7 string on By Myself, but I could be wrong. I'm too lazy to try and find the DVD.
All linkin Park tunings are DbAbDbGbBbEb (b = flat). And are you talking about the normal intro, or the one he does on live in texas?
K, since most guitar questions on here will probably be LP-related, I typed up a guide to LP's tunings a while back: Hybrid Theory: Papercut - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb One Step Closer - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb With You - B E A D G B E (7-string) or B E A D G B (6-string) Points of Authority - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Crawling - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Mike and Brad) Runaway - B E A D G B E (7-string) or B E A D G B (6-string) By Myself - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb In the End - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb A Place for My Head - Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Forgotten - Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Pushing Me Away - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Mike and Brad) Meteora: Don't Stay - B F# B E G# C# Somewhere I Belong (studio) - Ab Eb Ab Db Gb Bb (both guitars) Somewhere I Belong (live) - Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Mike and Brad) Lying From You - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Hit the Floor - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Easier to Run (studio) - Ab Eb Ab Db Gb Bb (both guitars) Easier to Run (live) - Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Mike and Brad) Faint - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Mike and Brad) Figure.09 - Db Ab Db x Db x (3 lowest strings are tuned like normal, strings 1 and 3 are removed, and string 2 is restrung with a low Db string tuned the same as the lowest string) Breaking the Habit - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb From the Inside - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Mike and Brad) Nobody's Listening - B F# B E G# C# Numb - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Hybrid Theory EP: Carousel - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Step Up - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb And One - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb High Voltage - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Part of Me - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (it might be Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb, hard to say since there are no live videos) Xero: Rhinestone - E A D G B E Reading My Eyes - D A D G B E (Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb when LP played it live last year) Fuse - E A D G B E Stick N' Move - D A D G B E (I think) Other songs: My December (studio) - C G C F A D (or D G C F A D, the lowest string isn't used) My December (live) - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb High Voltage (Remix) - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb It's Goin' Down - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Brad and Chester) Wish - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Mike and Brad) My Own Summer - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb QWERTY - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Announcement Service Public - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb (Both guitars) Jane Says (live acoustic) - Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Morning After (live acoustic) - Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Morning After (Underworld Soundtrack) - E A D G B E Sold My Soul To Yo Mama - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Standing in the Middle - E A D G B E Sweet Child O' Mine - Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb A.06 - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Dedicated - Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb Numb/Encore/Yesterday - C G C F A D (Numb/Encore was in the usual drop D, half step down tuning but when they did it with Paul McCartney they tuned an additional half step down to match the key of Yesterday that Sir Paul was used to performing the song in) I think that just about covers most major songs, let me know if anything's missing. And as for bass, the bass tunings mostly follow the guitar, with a few exceptions (It's Goin' Down, In the End, Breaking the Habit, Somewhere I Belong, Easier to Run, and all songs with B as the lowest note in the tuning are on 5-string bass).
Lol sounds like when I started. I would say start with easy songs with easy solos. Some easy ones I know are Holiday by Green Day and Smells Like Teen Spirit. The solos are really easy in those.
