Ok, so i downloaded IE7 onto the computer yesterday afternoon, and it runs fine. The only problem i seem to be having is getting it to work on my Mum's user account. It's installed, but when it opens it just crashes, it won't show up in the applications in windows task manager and half of the options it should have just aren't there. I've tried uninstalling and installing again but i'm not getting anywhere. Any ideas? Aside from changing to FireFox

I'm guessing its something thats installed on her login. Try running the usual adaware and spybot searches and see if you can eliminate anything.

Ok, what version of windows are you running? XP? Is your account an administrator account and is your mom's not? There's a restriction on IE7 of some sort that relates to profiles and their level of seniority..

I'm using the Home Edition of XP and we're all admins.

go into the program files folder where IE7 is installed, and find the crash logs...open the most recent one, and find where it says error...that will at least tell why it crashed

Alternatively, after a crash go start>>control panel>>administrative tools>>event viewer and look for errors under both 'application' and 'system'

I know, I just see absolutely no good reason to not use FireFox. IE7 causes so many problems, and I see them first hand working at an IT helpdesk.

I really wish some of the people here would give more constructive help other than "use FireFox."

You're in a plane that's lost both of its engines in midair. You have 2 options:
    1. Stay in the plane and hope that you can somehow fix both engines and get the plane working again even though it's not very likely you can fix it.
    2. Use a parachute and safely get out of the plane and return to the ground.

Now, you love this plane. It's a private jet that you bought with your hard earned cash and it makes you totally baller. Of course, you don't want to see it hit the ground at speeds excess of 500 miles an hour, but logic tells you to put on the chute and jump. Sure, the problem that started this whole mess isn't fixed, but once you're safe, you'll be glad you didn't stay up there to do some mid-air, life threatening repairs and more than likely die.

Sometimes people can't just switch to FireFox, though. I know I sure can't. I shared a computer with my parents and they're very strict about what's used on my computer. I'm sure some other people are in the same situation.

So sometimes maybe a constructive answer to help someone solve a problem would be better than just saying "use FireFox" and expecting the problem to be solved.

    That's all.

Flaps/gear up (if you had them out), trim for best glide speed, look for somewhere that you think you can put your shiny new jet down without killing it too badly...and fly it down.

And then kick your own ass, because if you lost power in both engines, it's very, very, very likely because you ran out of fuel. Dumbass.

    Sorry, just had to

lol, I knew you would come in here and correct something I said :D

The only things I know about aviation are that things defy gravity and fly in the air, security lines are a bitch, chances of your luggage getting lost are quite high, and if American Airlines ever seats me right next to the bathrooms and 2 seats back from a crying baby again, I'm going to fly on some other airline

Actually, I don't mind sitting in the very back seat (by the washrooms). Overseas flight [Toronto to Germany], which is about 7-8 hours(?), it's rather relaxing having the whole back row (well, 3 seats) to yourself [and my dad, but he moved to another seat].

The A333s that Air Canada has are actually pretty nice, the seating goes 2-4-2 in the back, so if you can find a whole row of the 4 to yourself, you have a pretty nice bed

@Todd: They lose your luggage because half the rampies are gone on their 43rd smoke break of their six hour shift. And as far as the security lines being a bitch, one letter can sum THAT up (at least for you): W.

When I was sitting next to the john, it was on a sold out flight on an M80 so it was pretty cramped, smelly and loud. Although on another flight on an M80, the flight was virtually empty, so seating was a free-for-all. I got a nice window seat up front and 2 seats to myself, so that was nice.

I can't remember if it was 3 or 4 seats, perhaps it was 4, as it was quite nice. *thinks* Yeah, it was 4. I have the weirdest memory ever, it's somewhat photographic, and somehow I can miraculously recall that there was 2 seats between my dad an I.
