Alright, so I plugged in my iPod today to charge it and was given the lovely exclaimationpointfolder icon. So I reset it and waited for it to update. That's when I realized that the color displays had changed to monocrhome. [the symbols are different (charging icon/update completed icon/etc.] So I unplug it and then it decides that it's not going to turn on. I plugged it back into the computer. No response. I reset it again. It updated [still in monochrome settings] Unplugged it. No response again. Repeat 50billion times. So now it's on the [MONOCHROME... <_<] "Okay to Disconnect" display but I refuse to unplug it. Any thoughts, guys? Or is it done for?
Sledgehammer ftw. [serious mode] There's a way to reset the damn thing...I think it's middle button + menu or something like that. My brother's did that once, and that helped. Try that. [/serious]
Whaaaaaat, you tried the sledgehammer? That's one overfuckingengineered ipod... ...hmm, try redownloading the firmware from apple?
Give it a good hit. Trust me, it works sometimes. My iPod did the same thing, with the stupid folder and such. I hit and it started working again. No joke. I don't know what else to tell you.
Don't hit it, it uses flash memory...its pointless. Try putting it in disk mode and doing a firmware restore with iTunes: # Before manually placing the iPod into Disk Mode you should verify that it has a charge, if not you need to either charge iPod before continuing or connect it to power. You can either connect it to a high-powered USB port, or plug the iPod Power Adapter into an electrical outlet and connect iPod to the power adapter. # Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) # Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears. # When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears. Let me know if that helps. If not we can try debug mode.
