Ok its simply this in the older itunes my shared library with my downstairs computer showed up but with the new one it doesnt so any idea whats goin on here?!
Either disable the firewall on the computer sharing the library, or open up whatever port iTunes uses (TCP port 3689 on my Mac, not sure if the Windows version uses the same port...probably does). Also, see if iT7 is set up to look for shared libraries, check the preferences.
In speaking of shared libraries, has anyone found a surefire way to get around the 5 User limit on it? Our entire school is on a big wireless network due to our laptop program, and I like to put my entire library up for everyone to listen to during our 4 hour vocation lab class rather than them all asking me to burn them CDs and junk.
I know there's a program around that can get around that limit. I saw it a few days ago, lemme see if I can go find it... --- Ahh, Google likes me tonight: I don't know much about it, but try using Firefly. There's a nice article/summary posted here. I've never used it, so don't ask me for help. Although, I'm not too sure how well it works with iTunes 7. Read through the Firefly forum a bit, you may find some useful posts.
no see the problem w/ mine is i have itunes7 on both and when i had itunes6 they showed up fine and i havent redone anything in between having the installs so...
You have 7 on both, of course you'll have no problems. Say you have iTunes 7 installed on computer a, but iTunes 6 installed on computer b. If you try to connect from either computer, it will not allow you because the libraries are structured differently (my guess, at least). Sharing will work only if you have iTunes 6 on both computers, or iTunes 7 on both computers. Compende?
well i installed the recent update (itunes 7.0.1.8 or w/e) and the shared libraries show up fine now so... i dunno musta been a bug w/ the regular itunes 7
