    http://www.roadrunnerrecords.co.uk/detonation/

The mp3 in question, DETONATION, is available for download until the 21st August. At which time the DETONATOR will destruct (probably taking most of the web with it).

Yeah, you need to check their myspace to understand that. They have a bomb with a countdown on it

    Great song but...

it just feels like something's missing,on both Ascendancy and Ember to Inferno, they had a really distinctive sound, that you knew instantly was Trivium, and whilst this song is good, from the pictures of them on tour(big nike air trainers,,big hair, tight jeans etc,) and the very Metallica-esque thrash with hard rock vocals(no screaming) I can't help but feel that it's just all been done before...20 years ago,and the album was called Master of Puppets...

I mean I could be wrong, and the crusade could be another mind-blower like Ascendancy, but after hearing this and their new live versions of stuff like Pull Harder... I doubt it.

don't get me wrong,i like the new song, and i'm not expecting Ascendancy pt.2, I think it's good when bands evolve the sound, just this doesn't sound like an evolution of Trivium's sound, but rather a rip-off of 80's Metallica, with some little changes so to avoid lawsuits,if you know what I mean...

After that description, I actually want to hear the song.
    That sounds pretty humorous.

thats pretty much a carbon copy of any black album song.

There was a time in the late 90s and eary 2000s when bands copied Korn and Rage against the machine. Now with so many bands doings that it isn't uncommon anymore. So trivium decided that they had to stand apart so they are trying to imitate the 80s metallica and megadeth.Thats pretty stupid though in my opinion.Cause i feel originality and not copying metallica makes you the "Next big thing" or the "Next metallica"

Oh, it's a black album rip off?
Nevermind then, I won't download it.
Plus I'm too lazy to do the whole email thing anyway. I'll just wait until the album leaks.

    Was that really necessary?

So what, he likes the solo...I do too, big whoop. If you think it rips off Metallica, fine by me...just don't gloat about it, makes you look like a fuckin' idiot.

i have nothing against you or your musical tastes.I just don't like matt heafy's attitude.you know the "The next metallica" or the "next big thing" stuff which he said.Like the song.I'm not telling you to stop doing that.its just that i find the band's new direction a bit wierd. And yeah if you think that solo was one of the greatest ever written then probably your definition of heavy metal ends at Limpbizkit.

Oh yeah btw "The solo was ridiculous" somewhat implies that he didn't like it.

It implies that "ridiculous" has other meanings. I loved the solo.

If you think Trivium's being such a rip-off of '80s hair metal, don't listen to them.

My handbag doesn't match my outfit anyway.

I mean, I only said what I said because he keeps ripping on the song in every post. Once is enough, I think.

    I know I know :p

And Will don't worry about you're handbag matching your outfit, you look fabulous baby

And that was a joke of course, don't get any ideas Will

Anyway back on topic; I heard Detonation Live and I was thinking ''oh god no'' but after listening to a studio recording it sounds quite decent, its a good solo and not TOO out of bounds to Trivium's style so this could be quite good.

Although one thing I'll agree with Evil Angel about is that they do have to stop banging Metallica and perhaps keep to their own stuff, usualy bands who go out there and try to practicly immitate one of their favorite bands often aren't too successful which would be a shame with Trivium because they've already shown what great talent they have and they should have a bright future.
